    GREAT cat.

  • Ed, have you got him registered with a vet? We got some flea treatments off them to give ours every 6 months and he hasn't had fleas yet (touch wood).

  • Fleas are cunts, thankfully they seem to prefer to eat my wife rather than me. Apparently they don't garlic too, so munch that down.

once every 6 months is handy. What brand is it? I might ask for that next time. Currently the one I use is once a month...

  • He belongs to my housemate, not sure exactly what his normal flea treatment is but periodically he gets some stuff put on his neck. I don't know why it hasn't worked though, what brand do you get Mark?

Advocate (sp?) seems to work well on Rowls.

Although it is owned by Bayer, who are the ones who are taking legal action against the European Commission over the banning of pesticides which are decimating bee populations.

    Conflicted.

  • My cat was on Stronghold for years, then I switched to Advocate on the Vet's advice and for the first time ever he had fleas. So I switched back to Stronghold and no fleas any more.

  • We bought one of those sprays to spray around the corners of the house and stuff after we had cleaned everywhere.

I'm not sure if it actually had any effect but my gf is properly freaked out about fleas so our cats got them we had to decontaminate the whole house.

  • What ever you do do NOT use Bob Martin stuff - it's is known to kill cats.

I use advocate for the cats and Acclaim for the house

Vet Kem Acclaim 400ml: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors

  • Frontline is the stuff I used. The stuff you get prescribed from the vets is stronger than the stuff you can buy in the shops apparently. It worked on my old cat. Although she was an indoor cat I think my contact with other animals brought the barstards in.

  • ^ I think that's the stuff our vet used too.

  • our birthday boy! 17 and still going strong (most of the time)

Advocate is good treatment. Wasn't aware of that though ^

Over the counter stuff like Frontline is rubbish.

  • Ed, it's Advocate we use, Worked a treat so far.

Aw, he's looking a bit grumpy about it :/

  • Cool, we're going to carry on combing him and get some vet grade stuff at the weekend. Any recommendations for a vet near New Cross?

Thanks for all the advice everyone

  • Nice cat!

Reminds me a bit of that "kitler" website though, no offense : ]

  • We don't have a cat at the moment, much to my disappointment.

There is a cat in the office though, who's a bit grumpy after surgery:

A long-haired breed of some sort. It's still young, probably about a year old.

  • I would love to have an office cat!

  • Oh wow a cat in the office! That is really awesome!

  • I should propose it in the staff meeting next week, particularly we have office mice...

  • Mice are ok too, but combining office mice with an office cat might not be the best thing to do. It can reduce the mice population rapidly.

  • one or the other ideally

  • we were told either a small cat or a lion, which is also a cat...
