Ned has been a Hill’s kibble cat since we’ve had him. There’ve been two controversies - the first when he came to Spain and we had trouble sourcing it so we tried a different brand. That resulted in him being a miserable little shit for a bit.
The other was when we had to move the fat fucker to the ‘light’ version, on the vets advice. We persevered through that and he has grudgingly accepted it now.

Waily doesn't care what format his food comes in as long as it's not fish flavoured

Waily and Patch will get on very well then. She only eats fish flavoured. Never chicken or duck or anything!
In fact, he favourite was beef flavoured from gourmet solitaire, but it gave her upset stomach so regularly we had to switch to Encore fish flavoured of all kinds... but she mainly turns her nose at it and eats her dry biscuits. She is not bothered with whatever dry food I give her, so I alternative between normal, light, hairball, dental health etc etc. Usually mix 50:50 of 2 different bag of James Wellbeloved and it’s been good for a while now. She seems happy...
Gave her Hill’s and Royal Canin before but rejected both brands on moral grounds.

Hills ZD is literally the only thing that doesn’t result in Fleur shitting blood. Her coat is amazing for it as well.
When we adopted her she was on Felix and GoCat. The difference was night and day within a few weeks of the change.
Her first visit to the vet she likened Felix etc as being the equivalent of living on microwave meals and SunnyD for humans. -

Felix and Whiskas shouldn’t even exist...
Patch was on Whiskas because Battersea was / is sponsored by them and we didn’t know any difference, so we carried on, but oh my, that cat knew better, she knew she was just eating crap to survive, within about 2 weeks, she went on a hunger strike, until we started experimenting different VERY expensive food!
When her current vet first met us, his comment was: “She eats better than me!” Yes she does! The cost of each of her meal is about £1. That is a lot for a 4.70kg living being...

So my wife gave birth on the 4th and the cat has been adorable and freaked out in equal measures since we brought our daughter home. She's been pretty desperate for attention and with mum and baby passed out I try to get a little sit down on the sofa...

Thanks.
Yeah she's a weird mix of curious, protective and confused. (which is not too dissimilar to how I'm feeling as a new parent)

Weigh-in for James today shows that he's now 4.2kg, so 0.5kg gained since the vet weighed him. His spine now feels much less worrying, and his overall condition is very much better.
You keep expensively rolling the food dice until your new feline overlord settles on a combination of its particular choosing. Brace yourself for extreme moodiness if you ever dare to instigate change but be equally prepared to have your long-standing agreement completely revised by said feline at a moment’s notice with no explanation at all.
Oh and none of your efforts will be of any interest in the face of your neighbours naan bread, chicken wings, kielbasa, milky granola or - as happened on one occasion - raw pig’s ear.
That said, we alternate between Felix As Good As It Looks and Felix Gravy Lover depending on bulk purchase options (eco unfriendly due to pouches but she only has one a day) and a big silo of dry food on a timer which shits out nom noms twice a day to keep her off the KFC.
