That was on a road bike I did Paris - Blackpool on years ago, very comfy, but the base cracked/snapped which I wasn't too impressed with so only really used it for that ride.

This so fucking much. Anyone who's had to replace the cable on one knows exactly why.. Currently working on the third one this week alone.
-
• #921
Not worth the time taken to replace the cable. £10 for a new one or - load of time fiddling around replacing a cable on a shifter with ratchets mad of cheese, that are too stiff for anyone except a body builder to use.

..Except that I work in a small low-to-mid-end bike shop in a near third-world country and mostly wrench on 20-yo beater MTB-s for customers that count every single cent they put towards the repairs. If it were up to me I'd send bikes like this right out the door/replace parts with something more serviceable, however I'm but a wrench and the owner makes these kinds of calls.

Which South London bike shop do you work for?
