how you doing lynchman?
-
• #854
Yes, I do.
Still don't like the aesthetic though, and your Picasso comparison is way off imo.
FWIW, I like the frame design of thisbut the chromed fancy lugs still make my teeth itch. Beauty is in the eye, and all that.
Basically looks like a GT rip off tbh

Pretty sure it outdates GT by at least 40 years.

"How you doing lynchman?"
Great, but still a long way to go. Physically I'm getting stronger by the day.

Great to hear Kris.

Triathlon bikes may be incredible engineering for the job but christ are they ugly!
ftfy
Nearly all the truly rank builds are by sleeveless nodders.

^ ah sorry yes.
i do respect that theyre perfect for the job but there must be a way they could be made less ugly... -

I lost both my front teeth to that stem bolt in 1976. I don't like it at all.
-
• #861
Oof. I'd hate it too.
-
• #862
What is there not to hate... except possibly the price.

Oof. I'd hate it too.
I still do, even to this day checks teeth are in straight !
The actual stem bolt that 'did it' was on my Raleigh Mk1 Chopper. 2nd gear on the 'T' shift was slip on mine cos it was knackered. Attempting to impress girls with my ace wheelying skills (sure-fire failure BTW but it seemed like a good idea aged about 11 in 1976) I accidentally knocked the T shift and into 2nd and put all my weight forward for the wheely to end all wheelies. Girls hearts were a-flutterin' I'm sure.
It didn't unfortunately work out to good though, I just managed to slam my face into the stem bolt removing my two bunny teeth. I remember picking up one and putting it in my pocket, why, lord knows! The girls and my mates panicked and I calmly rode off back home and proudly showed me Mum.
She wasn't impressed either. Neither was the Hospital. or my Dentist. or the Orthodontist. The only people who thought I'd done a proper job on my chompers was the Facial reconstruction Dept at Guys Hosp! :-) My Teeth and bite got so bad in my late 20's I had to have 'a bit of work done' and then 7 years of braces plus all 4 impacted wisdom teeth out which weren't helping matters either.
Bloody shiny Stem bolt. I hate it!
I'm OK now though.
I have a bolt less stem.
Arf!
Dave.

Any stem would have done the same damage, save your hatred for the flawed SA hub/shifter design which is prone to a box full of neutrals.

Good and fair point about the SA. Noted.
But I feel it important to focus on that particular bolt on the stem (which is what my face did afterall) because it was 'special'...I'd made it so... bearing in mind I was about 11 at the time and "did my own maintenance" some of the damage to my boyish good looks (refutable) was due to not using the correct size spanner as I'd also managed to round off the flats a bit thus producing a razor sharp burr.
Right size spanner? File off the burr? Nah, I was young, daft and care free (soon to be tooth free also!) and had wheelying records to defend and girls to impress :-)
I might have to start blaming my Dad for not having a shed full of Snap-On tools in 1976 and giving me access to 'em at such a young age.
