  • We leave about 7.10. Poor excuses.

  • Nice project mate...

#Rep (Must spread etc... I'll be back.)

  • 53x19 or 20

    This

  • Few little updates! In all honesty, I've ran out of money to spend on this, but each week if I find something cheap enough, I'll purchase it.

Due to me straight up refusing to pay £100+ for a saddle, I've conjured a plan.

    If I take this saddle:

Remove the cover, purchase a sheet of leather (anyone had an experience re-covering saddles?) and away I go. I'm also going to add new KASHIMAX logos:

    Also purchased this:

  • this is the thread you want for all your saddle covering needs: http://www.lfgss.com/thread26852.html

  • Standard gatorskins>>>>> unless that is for the front wheel.

  • Thought you had came to my thread to tell me you don't want me to re-wrap the saddle, but instead want to sell me yours for £30

Gator up front. I literally must have 50 700x23 tyres I've collected over the last year or so. Skiddz all round! Paying £2 for 10 used tyres at my LBS FTMFW.

  • Regular Gators are a bit shit, too quick wearing on the rear and feel shit on the front...

In what sense? Never ridden them before, just wanted to give them a try.

Will be using this (mostly) in the dry

  • Stiff casing and hard rubber. I'd take the increased risk of punctures and the associated improved grip over puncture protection personally, but that's just, like, my opinion, man.

Hmmm, as said before never used them myself, thought they had quite a good rep?

Possibly thinking the Grand Prix 4000 S was the way to go in the first place? Or CP4S on the front, gatorhardshell on the rear

  • They have a good rep for being puncture proof, but that makes them inherently slower than a less puncture proof tyre. I figure you're less likely to get a puncture on the front cos you can steer around hazards, and extra grip and a bit of free speed from reduced RR is always nice on the front. GP4000s are good, if a little uninspiring. I prefer my Ultremo ZX, but they're a bit more delicate and apparently they don't last long.

Hardshell rear if that's your thing, Maxxis Refuses for me. Hardshells will probably last longer, but Refuses ride a bit nicer IMO. And new ones give that refuse zip sound when you first skid on them.

  • ^ I do approve of the refuse too, seems to ride better than the hardshell i think its a bit softer. Plus the folding hardshell costs about £10 more than the refuse folding.

  • Ultremo ZX have absolutely fuck all puncture protection. Gatorskins roll pretty good and have really good puncture protection, but they wear down fairly fast and that puncture protection then disappears. Gatorskin Hardshells roll about the same as normal Gator's, but last much much longer, especially if skidding on them. GP4000's are a racing tyre, just like the Ultremo ZX, as such have little puncture protection, but have incredibly low rolling resistance. Personally I like the Ultremo R.1 for every day cycling, they also have very low rolling resistance, weigh nothing and have some puncture protection. The ZX's gave me punctures literally every ride, the R.1's it would be once every other week. But for skidding, the hardshell all day long. I had a Maxxis Refuse and it tore across its width after about 1 mile of use so I chucked it and haven't used one since.

  • Thought you had came to my thread to tell me you don't want me to re-wrap the saddle, but instead want to sell me yours for £30

If you do a good job it should look fine, but when I paid £105 for that thing and it's been ridden on four times it ain't going to nobody for less than £70. But I am not selling anyway.

  • Just waiting for a few more parts to clear customs!

I've decided against a set of crabon wheels due to I can't afford the rims, spokes and hubs, then to get them built up.

Going with a set of Miche Pistards (for the time being). I would have really liked a nice DA wheelset, but I know I'll just sell them pretty quick, as I don't have that kinda money to keep on a bike.

  • ^good shout on carbon. Before you buy wheels have you measured the spacing? Is it 120 and not 110, yeah?

Miche are 122 x 10, my rear end (oh er) is 110 x 8 but I've taken it upto 115 so the extra bit won't be hard, will file the Miche axles down

Still think this will look quite sexy with them on, however.

  • Customs, go fuck yourselves.

£50 charge for a fucking chainring

  • Wut?

  • that is some honest package description right there^^

  • Ohhhh snap! That's a disgrace. Did it end up costing more than if you'd got it in the UK?

  • Actually thinking about it, it does have a stem which I purchased for £15, but still £50!!!

Naaa, trade price h'innit, was still cheaper

  • Really? You can get them brand new from Dolan for £96

  • Just ordered a set of Miche Pistards for £90. win.

Getting real close to having all the parts to build this, all I need now:

    rear tyre
    bartape
    bars
    saddle (when it turns up!)
    clamp-on brake

Rather than build it up slowly, I just want to get all the parts in front of me and build it all at once, can't wait.
