Hey, you guys started it.

• #5253
History and culture. Are you feeling ok?
-
• #5254
Not really, no. Maybe the clot moved into my brain like the Simpsons episode with Homer and the crayon.
-
• #5255
Do not want.
Back on topic - bit of a cheeky ask - but does anyone have a spare Powertap (road) kicking about that I could borrow for a couple of weeks?
I'm off to Wales and would really like to take my Cervelo instead of my Canyon, but it doesn't have a PM at the moment (Stages on Canyon). First world problems or what? -
• #5256
You can borrow my G3/Ardennes if you want.

• #5257
Dual sided powermeter from stage coming soon.
-
• #5258
Wow double the chances you might have some power readings to look at!
-
• #5259
and twice as many batteries to buy...
-
• #5260
Dual sided would be double the price? Ultegra Stages is £699, if you double that then take off 20% you've still got ~£1,120 which is a very, very punchy price given that the Pioneer unit is £1,000.
Although you can't buy the fucking thing in the UK, of course.

They'd have to be taking off much more than that. The incremental cost of making the second strain gauge unit will be tiny, wouldn't be surprised to see the RRP of 6800 double-Stages set at £899

Probably, but then that makes everyone who bought the suddenly deprecated single sided unit look like a wally when it's slashed to £300.
-
• #5263
They already looked like wallys
-
• #5264
very kind offer. Will give you a shout.

This thread, the oracle of knowledge for powermeters, made it perfectly clear not to swap hard-earned cashmoney for Stages.
I mean, even the name hints at their release plan...
-
• #5266
Maybe if they bought one last month but not buying something (and hence not getting the benefit) because at some point in the future it may or may not be discounted an unknown amount isn't exactly the greatest strategy either.
-
• #5267
Oh FFS - they're fine.
-
• #5268
Yes, we enjoyed their recent gig quite a lot...

My Edge 1K dropping the power reading happened again. This time it was on Dynamo after a brief stop. Thought I'd lost the magnet in the grass, but once again, it had auto recalibrated to a number above 1000, and just needed another calibration, back to 504. Definitely looks like a bug in current firmware version. Given all the new software features they've announced in the Edge 520 coming soon to the others, I can't say I'm looking forward to the next wave of bugs. I'm using the PC8 now when I don't need maps.

Finally got around to looking at the power data from last weekend's blast around RP. Almost back to where I was 5 years ago when I was at my (laughable) peak. Running seems to have really helped keep my fitness up, now I just need to dump a further 12kg and go back to 150km+ weeks on the bike rather than piss-poor 20km weeks.
(Golden Cheetah critical power plot shows the ride against all data for the last 6 years.)
