• it's not accurate

    We agree on this.

  • I've been unsure of this, does a P2M for Rotor 3DF/Plus definitely fit on the regular cheapo Rotor 3D cranks? That'll save me a few pennies in the future if so.

  • no but a P2M for 3d (not + or F) does.

3d+ and 3df are interchangeable - and both 30mm axle
3d has a different spider fitting and 24mm axle

  • Accuracy vs consistency. Consistently and predictably wrong is still good enough to track and monitor training effects.

@hovis get educated before buying a powermeter, not after.

Stages will probably be dropping their prices in reaction to the v. similar 4iiii product launching Dec 10th at $350

  • Ah, gotcha. I was looking at the old version, which they don't/didn't do a 3D version of, it appears.

  • They did used to do one, but they are selling off all the old "classic" versions cheap and I guess they have run out of them.

  • Puts credit card away

  • Provided you dont have to swap rings.

    There's the rub. I do.

In fact, because the cranks take such a beating when racing cx, I'd prefer to be able to swap the power2max unit between cranksets, but that's a major, major ball ache.

  • I just got my SRM back, they did the following:

    • Battery change
    • Calibration
    • Firmware update
    • Replaced the antennae
    • Updated "a bunch" of components on the circuit board

    And here's the invoice:

  • I love a good zero dollar invoice.

So another newbie question. Power2max type s and power2max classic. Am I correct in saying the only differences are, lower weight and higher compatibility with cranks and frames?

  • The bulge on the classic can make changing rings a pain, I think.

Track SRM and PCV for £400 on TT forum

  • Correct - it's the same but with slightly lower power demands - hence being able to use smaller battery/enclosure and lighter weight.

  • @Hovis pick that book from @hippy first :P

  • That may be so, but if a meter isn't accurate, how do you know if it's consistent? You don't, and it's where the numbers are wrong that you're throwing away repeatability and you may as well not be using a power meter.

    Stages >>>

  • Yes, do that.

It's not quite as good as a phone book but the bruises won't be as pronounced.

  • may as well not be using a power meter

  • Not as aero as Stages but almost as effective ;)

  • Discussion a couple of pages back about what data to show on screen. I have a 910 so not a whole lot of space for lots of metrics but I usually display ride time, 3s power and average power.

Was just wondering if anyone displays NP rather than average power as that's what I usually end up looking at post ride?

  • Yeah I do.

Ap doesn't tell the full story. Or even much of any part.

  • Yeah, NP and Ave Pw are quite often on mine.

  • Changed my first G3 battery. Fucking hell, so much easier than the old hubs with that shitty tool.

Seems I killed another Powertap in the rain last week so I'm upgrading all mine to G3 I reckon.

  • How does rain kill powertaps?

I've ridden my SRM through fords. Nervously.

  • Cheap power bargains at Sigma warehouse clearance; loads of powertap hubs and wheels.

  • Damn them for being so close to home yet me being stuck here (not in London)
