I may be holding onto the very edge of 4 w/kg by my fingertips, if I get there.
My goal is 300 watts FTP at 75kg. I was 78.4kg this morning, and my FTP is currently a guesstimate based, mainly, on yesterdays ride!

I had a look but cannot find the email, from memory when I enquired the powermeter itself is ~770 euro/660 GBP or thereabouts.
770euro from Power2max. Which to be fair is a nice price. They also have a 165mm option. But in my experiance Rotor offically come in 165mm. But in reality no one has them, as they dont really bother producing them.
I was kinda hoping for something cheap from ebay etc. I could retro fit to my existing cranks. Money is going to be tight this year.

Yeah, I saw that- sorry to hear about the job situation.
I've seen second hand P2Max units on eBay France and Italy before- but they've been so close in price to a new unit I've never thought it worthwhile. Dandy has got the best deal that I have seen so far.

I was thinking about quitting rugby, and taking cycling more seriously instead. My long term goal would then be 300 watts FTP, and 78kg.

This is the second half of the ride on Sunday when Chris and I needed to get back, so went ahead of the group:
TSS would appear to be 133 (0.982) for the one hour twenty three minutes, which seems high- but then we were trying to go quite fast.
Is this impossibly high and simply indicates that Training Peaks has the wrong values?

At it's most basic, 1 hour at threshold is 100 TSS points, is my understanding- hence when I managed to score over 100 TSS/hour it attracted some derision.
As that should be impossible.
It's not impossible, it's unlikely - you could have a breakthrough workout or say have your FTP incorrectly calculated :)

If it was me I would 100% do it.
There is loads of info on wattage about it if you can be bothered to trawl through it, but in a nutshell it makes it much more accurate.
This.

I'd be very surprised if your Rotor 3D 165mm road cranks differed in any way from my Rotor 3D 165mm track cranks.
I reckon they just chuck a different spider on there.
Whether the importer/distributer would be at all interested in swapping a spider is a different question of course.

Never thought about using track arms. Loads of sites list the 165mm road cranks. None had when I was looking. A german site ordered them in. Carlos Sastre used them for TTs, and I read about rebumbrant cyclists using them. But other than that they where like rocking horse shite.
Might start a piggy bank for a new power2max.

They might be different- however if I was in charge of the Rotor production line I would make the designer who suggested a non-modular, interchangeable design stand in the corner with a pointy hat on.

I've decided that the Titanium Wonder (my Swiss-resident Enigma road bike) should have a Power2Max crankset, given that I'll be able to use my Powertap wheels on the UK-based dentist's bikes. Can't decide between the Rotor 3D+ and the Lightning cranks though. Head says the extra cash for the Lightning's not worth it. Heart says the 3k finish will go nicely with the finishing kit on the rest of the bike, and that the Rotor 3D+ graphics are truly fugly. Decisions, decisions...

Don't take this the wrong way, but how large are you?
The lightnings are very nice- but have a 100kg weight limit, so if you are a naturally gifted descender you might want to go with the Rotors.

The Rules for Cranks: Metal >>> Carbon, Shimano >>> everything else.
I do quite like the look of the Rotor cranks though.

I've ended up with three pairs, I'm not entirely sure how that happened.

Sounds like me and powermeters. I've had something like 7 different Powertaps and 2 SRMs.

SRM finally realising that people don't want to send £3000 cranks overseas just to have battery charged...

82kg at the moment, and decreasing (target's 75kg by the middle of June), so the weight limit shouldn't be an issue. Still very undecided. Particularly as the bike currently has carbon cranks (SRAM Force) and the heart bit says switching to ali cranks would be a downgrade. Even though the head says that's complete bollocks...

I've got one set of Hollowgram SiSl SRM cranks, and three sets of Rotor (one track, one 3DF and one 3D+ SRM) which are all aluminium, they are all pretty well regarded when it comes to stiffness.
One thing to note is that whilst Cannondale have moved over to carbon fibre for their frames, they are continuing to develop the metal SiSl2 crank with no signs of moving to CF.

The 'Stages' system looks nice. Such a shame they dont do Rotor arms. Would be amazing if you could just send off your own left crank arm, and have it modified. But I guess there's all sorts of issues with that idea.
Found a slightly better price for the power2max. Plus a nice selection of other power goodies.

Check to see if it comes with the lockring tool, looks good.

Thats interesting. I'll have a read of that at some point.
Still havent properly tested the PC yet. The second the weather warmed up the spring storms started. Its trees bent double windy here now.
I really hope I get on with it. I do a lot of training on the fixed, and SS 29er. It would be brilliant if I could log wattage for those too. That, and the price, make the PC potientially an amazing tool.
In the meantime I'm somewhat addicted to my turbo set-up. Seem to push myself so much harder than I do outdoors. But then maybe/hopefully that'll transfer to 'proper' cycing when spring sets in.
Current FTP 2.95 per Kg. Which I guess is a bit 'meh'. But it was probably more like 2.75 barely 2 weeks ago. I've lost a lot of weight, improved cadence, and learnt to maintain a threshold effort. I suspect these things have always been there. I'm a strong fixed road rider, and single speed offroader. I've just always viewed the road bike, as an easy option.
Ultimately I can see myself getting the power2max for my birthday in the summer. Its kinda addictive this power malarkey.

Yep, very- if you are goal focused.
Well I reckon my FTP is already 245. Just to need confirm it. I will also be down to 81 Kg, from a 2013 high of near 86kg, pretty soon. I can never maintain 85kg over summer anyway. So getting over 3 watts per kilo FTP is a pretty lame goal.
Over 4 sounds impressive from what I read.
