Smash everyones phones then?
I'm sure the riders would be delighted to do just this, if they weren't so busy with the whole, erm, riding thing.

The excuse of "everyone does it" is bollocks. Unfortunate for that phone owner that they were the one who happened to be within arm's reach at his tipping point (or they were a particularly strong offender) but they weren't singled out. They got their phone smashed by being a bell end, no real right to feel hard done by.

If you honestly think Navardauskas did that on purpose, then I suggest you try hitting an object 3 inches square at 25 mph next time you're out on your bike.

Hey I'm only playing devil's advocate here
Yes it was a tad harsh but as stated, the owner of said phone was being a colossal bell end. I honestly don't know how the riders put up with it as much as they do
Guess I'm just thinking of it from the angle of how fucked I'd be if my iPhone got smashed up... #technologicallydependent

Would you hold it out in front of a 70-80kg mass moving at 25+mph?
-
• #858
Never even remotely hinted that I would

It looked deliberate to me. It's not hard to slap someones hand, I did it passing a rider today, so closing speed is 60kph ish. That was just a high five because the sun was shining and we're super cool, no phone smashing.
iPhoneSmackdown occured whilst they were climbing so a bit slower than 40kph probably.

Did the idiot get confused?

Then your status as devil's avocado is fucked

Miro, do you wanna pull your tampon out and crack on with something more productive than trying to belittle me for asking a question from an alternative perspective to your own?
-
• #863
I tried to answer your dumb question idiot. But you're right, that wasn't productive.

...neither was the tampon remark

Idiocy/malice.
If it's you who has trained all your life to compete in the Tour and you're sitting on the deck with a popped wrist I think you'd struggle to care about the why and focus on the who.
Like that dickhead in the Giro that got his sunnies chucked because he was too busy running in front of his favourite rider and blocked Rolland. Idiot, yes, malice, no, total penis, definitely.

(Release the) Navardauskas was a bit punchy I believe.
Was a Garmin-Sharp rider IIRC (edit: Navardauskas, doubletap beat me to it)
Never mind, you both combined for a nice double tap. :)

Ramunas Navardauskas.
Triple tap. :)

Yea the Rolland example was the one I thought of initially, although the thing that made me ask is that I assumed the iPhone would be more valuable to him/her who lost it
Miro, whatever pal I wasn't really out to cause an argument I was asking a question, can u please call it a day

Can this thread have more spectator stories rather than bickering perhaps?
Infact as this was a topic for those planning to go watch thr Grand Depart, can TdF bickering go in a separate topic, the Football thread would be ideal... >>>>>>>>>

For the guy I was chatting about cider with at Luci's corner, it's Rosies Cider Farm up on the way to the Horseshoe Pass

+1 The crowds here have been massive. And there was more shameful shit on Zoncolan with fewer spectators. Poor Bongiorno!

Triple tap. :)
Is that a bier?

Angry cyclist smacks iPhone out of spectators hand - Tour de France - YouTube
It looks like the initial ire is focused on the selfie taker. They move back leaving their mate behind them at the mercy of the slap.

This. Riders are at the mercy of the spectators all the time, they have to rely on them not to be massive belms, like that dick who pushed Bongiorno. The fact is they have to frequently police that shit themselves all the time. I feel for the guy who lost his phone, having recently lost mine and much beloved Clash of Clans village, but lesson learned hopefully, and a lesson for others too.
Gutted that we weren't able to make it to luci's corner today. The roads closed a lot earlier than we expected and they weren't being cool about people riding along the route like they were yesterday. :(
