Have to get a winterbike right now! Even if it's spring.

anyone used the Schwalbe CX pro tyres? at 30mm i'd like to think I can use my Cinelli Gazetta with a road geo fork for my first effort at this, anyone had experience converting an (OTP) track bike for SSCX?

No conversion to do really. If you are using from this time of year onwards and not in particularly muddy conditions just ride what you have off road.
It depends where you live and what the conditions are like but you don't have to have canto brakes and large clearances for everywhere.
I ride in the New Forest where it is stony and seldom muddy and am currently using a Steamroller with 25c Marathon pluses (get a lot of punctures on the stony ground) and it is fine.
