  • if there is a way to transfer entries then mine is open and whoever takes it can they collect my bottle i think i've already paid for?

Have you ridden on the strada bianche with those? If so, that's very impressive.

  • they must be *f*ck yeah, magnets! *if they hold full bottles over washboards and bumps on the Tuscan gravel!

switched the not so tight rear derailleur for a no play Titlist, installed the Tornade pump on the Vittorio

  • Don't worry, I have no intention of using that magnet bottle system on those Tuscan roads. For a start, I don't want to be left out there with no water bottle so I will be reverting to a period-correct cage for 'l'Eroica.

  • anyone driving down? recommend routes/things to avoid?

  • anyone driving down? recommend routes/things to avoid?

Yes. Where are you driving from?

  • Could you keep a record of how much it costs you to drive down? I might take my camper over next year, if it's not massively more than flying....

  • Yes. Where are you driving from?

    Coming from Devizes, Wiltshire.

Going to ferry it from Dover to Calais, including tolls and frog tax, it should cost around £200 each and i'm sharing with a mate.

    Where are you driving from?

  • Has anyone London(ish) got a bike bag or box I could borrow for the Guerciotti? Happy to pay in cash, beers or whatever works. Normally hire one but as usual have left things to the last minute and they are all gone - only need it once a year! Cheers all. Can't wait to get out there now.

We are driving from London. I'm getting the tunnel as we are in a Van and it works out cheaper.
    Driving one of two ways.
I'm going to try to avoid the peage. As for my van can be costly.
    I'll PM you my routes

  • I'm out
    ticket available,
    pm if interested

    (sobs)

  • ^^^ ouch, such short notice too.

I know this is probably a stupid question but does anyone know if there's any possibility of getting a taxi back to Rada the night of the ride. My girlfriend will be meeting me in Gaoile for a few drinks after the ride but I doubt she'd be able to cycle the 9k uphill back to Rada while pretty drunk. We could leave the bikes in town but have no idea how to get back to Rada.

  • ^check the local tourist info for any numbers of local taxis as I'm sure there must be something near by.
Or ask the hotel you are staying at for any help.

  • If you see a fat middle-aged bloke pushing this up a slight incline in Tuscany next week, say hello:

  • There will be a fat middle aged bloke, slightly behind you on that hetchins up there ^^.

I went out for hilly, relatively quick (for me) 70 odd miles yesterday....I know I didn't eat properly, but I was bolloxed! I am no way near last years levels....not that they were brilliant, but I got round the 205k in about 14 hours.... I'm toast this year!

  • just so you know, you are all bastards.

    have fun next week!

    t

  • Disaster.

Mrs JJ has had a pretty nasty car accident. She'll be OK, but is bloodied and bruised, and consequently we're very unlikely to be getting on a plane this week.

I'm pretty sure we've had it with the flights, but I might be able to gift on our room at the posh hotel in Gaiolie (which is brilliant). Will try to find out the score tomorrow.

In the meantime, as Tilover says, you are all bastards, have a great time;)

  • Blimey....hope she heals up quick :0(

Is this year cursed? My daughter, who is 19, had her tonsils out 2weeks ago. She has had some complications though, and has been admitted to hospital, let out, rushed back in, and had another op to stop the bleeding yesterday. I'll give it a couple of days to make my mind up, but if my wife isn't happy about me going (she says that it's cool now), or I don't feel happy, I might have to pull out too. :0( she looks like it's sorted out now though, so I'll delay my decision....

  • Hoping Mrs JingleJangle is back to form soon. Would have been great to meet up with you and others in Gaoile.

If anyone needs an entry, I have a spare available too.

  • argh... team lfgss rapidly diminishing :-(

good luck with the troubles guys, hope things turn for the better soon!

also keeping my fingers crossed for a bit more 'Tuscany-like' weather in Chianti next week than yesterday in Lucca, my girl & I were completely soaked after watching the start of the Worlds here and walking back to the hotel.

  • ^ Just seen pictures of this mornings sunrise in Giaole as a friend is already there. Sun sun and er more sun!

Packing today and off early in the morning! Road trip here we come!
