Back home now. Sad not to have seen anyone from LFGSS there. Met a few Brits and asked if they were from the forum, but gradually got embarrassed asking strangers if they were "off the Internet ...".
Ah well, another time. -

Suddenly it's £55 for early registration and £70 thereafter rather than £70/£85. Did they get the sums wrong?

Ah well, another time.I know how you feel. Next year, all members should wear the official LFGSS cap so they can be easily identified.

I did, every time I was in Gaiole and all day on Sunday! I think I can use it now as a basis for some (unsavoury) broth ;-)

This is what caused Cycliste's problems on Sunday:
I'm not at all sure what happened. The upper jockey wheel has completely disintegrated, and the hanger's bent as is the pivot bolt, so there's obviously been quite a lot of force going through it to badger it so completely. However, it wasn't in the spokes of the rear wheel and was in second from top on the rear cassette, so I really can't work out why it self-destructed.
Still, after having said she was turning back for the hotel, Cycliste had a change of heart and did the remaining 125km with a bodged single speed set up which (admittedly I'm biased) I was rather impressed with.
Anyone got a spare Dura Ace 7200 rear derailleur knocking around?

Good to see you too benji.... Did the ride go well? I looked for you afterwards at the campsite, but was a bit drunk!
Peter, you are a mentalist! I saw you the next day, riding back towards gaiole, about 20k out (Monteverchi?) ... I was the random bloke in the grey fiat 500 who waved! :0)I agree with getting a bit more organised.... Those who want to meet up, should organise something... There will be people who don't want to, but some of us would!
Once again, I find myself thinking about painful moments at random times, and also, chuckling to myself in public, remembering funny bits (Doberman on my nose!).... I also want to do it again next year. I will put the miles in next time.
Cheap campri tents....... They work! -

It went well thanks. 205km in 12 and a half hours; 15 mins faster than last year. The only problems i had were an exploding tyre, and a dodgy sounding freewheel.
I didn't stay the night as friend gave me a lift back to Modena. Just as well as i didn't fancy cycling back to Siena train station with a big rucksack the following morning.

ha! I remember seeing you wave, asking myself who that might have been... you didn't have the bandage on your nose did you? in that case I might have guessed ;-) My girl and I were just out on a short ride Montaio to Montevarchi through Cavriglia and back to loosen up the muscles :-)
because we are 'always' staying about 12k from Gaiole (and driving or having to climb by bike up from Gaiole to the crossing and then from Cavriglia to Montaio - 10% ++) it is a bit bothersome to get drunk there... but I'd love to meet up next year!

Great to meet Tapsnbath and the Holdsworths! Awesome ride. So lucky with the weather. Just unpacking my Pro and changing back the tyres to something more vintage than Vittoria paves. Great to have some English steel out there with the Bianchis and Legnanos. Good luck with the jersey.

Found one in the parts bin. Looks new. PM me if you are interested.
Also, please post some pics of the Hetchins in Tuscany.

We just saw a flyer at registration for "L'Eroica Britannia"! It's going to be held in the Peak District next June. I recon they must have stolen the idea from Tilover...

Excellent, thanks. I've suggested Cycliste drops you a PM about the rear mech.
I would post a pic of the Hetchins in Tuscany, but the only two I've got are from the commercial photographers during the ride, so the bike's obscured by some fat gurning biffer sitting on it. Not pretty.
