^^ I think they must have about 11 incarnations of Coppi's personal, unique original bike on which he won his first Giro ;-)
I signed up for the 205, got my number yesterday (say hi if you see 4930 on a yellow bike, with lfgss cap) and met JD at the market when it was still dry out.
Now, I'm wondering if the roads will at all be rideable tomorrow, it's been pissing down all day (exactly as predicted) since the thunderstorm before dawn :-(

85 pounds to register eh?

even at the £70 pre register price that is insanely steep - i hope they reconsider, my t'eroica was free and came with pie :)

Just missed a chance to buy a Brooklyn wool jersey for 90eur...Guy in front got both the mamil-ish sized ones. Distraught!
No idea how it's going to go tomorrow. Rain is relentless, re-considering the wool attire for...what...?

Way overpriced, could attend the RetroRonde for similar overall cost and that has history, beer and frites on its side.
I wish the organisers luck but I'm not interested in getting so blatantly fleeced.

Fucking biblical proportioned monsoon... It's just stopped from about 10ish last night. I've managed to keep my doss bag dry, but my one pair of jeans are soaked!
And whilst very pissed on gin with rossco and nick last night, I got bit on the nose by a Doberman.... So that's my first war wound!
-
• #339
ouch! you must have been quite drunk, trying to kiss a dobermann??
just greased the chain and put the bike in the car, hope to start around 5:30. I don't think he air can hold any more water, humidity 101%...

Good one and all the weather gods are shining on us all this morning after the down pout all day yesterday.
Be safe on the strada as it's going to be a messy experience and you'll all look like the pic above.

Yep, that's the last time I trust Italian weather forecasts - it was glorious sunshine all day, and boy was I not dressed for that. Still, I finished the 135km, which was surprisingly hard. Those strada blanca really do take it out of you, particularly when they're rutted to hell by all the rainfall. Cycliste is still out there, rocking the 135km course SS, after having put her rear derailleur into her rear wheel 10km in. She said she was going back to the hotel - evidently she had second thoughts!

Fucking gorgeous day here in Siena, seen Eroica chaps all week bobbing about in wool jerseys so glad the weather gods have seen fit to shine down upon thee...

Did the 135 and suffered again. Now waiting for pizza at the takeaway by the Jolly Cafe. Quite hungry now. When I got in I felt sick to my stomach. I'll be in a pizza coma soon no doubt. Great day, but hard as for me.

Strange, I was there in spirit, but not in person. Also, that pizza place serves the best pizza's ever, hope you did it justice!

Just packed my bike away into its box ready for the flight home.... I had a tough one! I was violently sick at about 5k, then shortly after brolio, it happened again.... At about 30k I nearly went back and jacked, but as that way was uphill, I kept going for a bit. Got to the split and decided to do the 135. I must say, I enjoyed it more, as I was stopping in random places to enjoy the view, which I didn't have time for last year on the 205..... It was a good call.
I'd like to know how much rain fell that night/day.... Well done to all who did it this year, whatever the distance!
I've got a few hours to kill, so I'm going to grab some breakfast, and go and DRIVE some of the strada bianchi! :0) -

They got me for excess baggage..... And wanted £40. So I pushed the upgrade button and am going to abuse the posh lounge's complimentary stuff. How many coffees does it take to make your head hurt? We'll find out soon ;0)
