  • At £30 cheaper and 50g lighter - I know what I'd choose

Though this wheel build isn't really concerned with weight or price I guess ;)

  • I was going to suggest Goldtec front and rear as they're on sale at TFG - and that would come £150

In store only? They only seem to have the fronts online

  • Braking surface? Dude... It's a fixed gear. You slow down with your feet and even a tekro caliper on a basic rim is going to lock up enough to buckaroo you.

System Ex to Open pro is the best pound for pound (weight/looks/quality/durability) wheel you'll get for fixed road riding.

Fine if want a blinger wheelset, cool. But you don't need one....

Thought a brake was your next purchase anyway?

  • Open Pro CD's are 88.38 at Evans at the moment with 15% discount code. The reviews and reputation don't lie. But I want black rims. Does anyone know anywhere that stocks 36H A23s? TFG don't seem to.

  • ^^ It is.

Hence why I wanted a black braking surface, so my rims stay black.

  • With the 7600s, open up when you get them and repack with as much grease as you can, and do it at the start and end of every winter. Andy Ellis does this and he's never had a problem.

  • Yeah, I don't expect to have any issue at all to be honest.

  • ^^ It is.

Hence why I wanted a black braking surface, so my rims stay black.

    Tart.

  • Yep. 88.38 for CD's does seem like very good value though. Xmas present number 2 may be on the cards.

  • They do look good

  • Where did you get hubs for 123? Pm if need be..

  • Shit son they do look good. Are they Malayianz? Think that is decision made then to be fair.

  • Nope Slodwn sold them a month or so back

  • I sold those da wheels to slwdn! were so good

  • Get archetypes, look better and better quality control than the A23s

  • Fuck hplsson... Open pros to DA7600 is the way to go.

I fixed brakeless and loaded toured France on my Paul/Open Pro wheelset, rode down stairs, hopped kerbs, rode a BMX track... and they stayed true. Someone on the trip riding tb14s that was 6 stone lighter than me, and didn't ride down stairs, hop kerbs or ride a bmx track, and his front and rear were both out of true by the end of the trip.

Obviously there are other variables, but I'm super impressed with open pros.

I missed V-Ls/SloDwns.. So now i have these...

For the nice track build, having realised my Araya's were suffering the abuse.

I have open pros on my road bike as well.

  • Yeah - realised this. Hence I am going to order some Open Pro's later and have some 7600s on the way. I didn't copy I promise ;-)

  • fucking great wheelset!

  • If you want black why not get black open pros?.... they're the top of my list right now.

  • fuck both archetyes and mavics, for 7600 only box profiled clincher arayas!

    #horriblybiased

  • Been there, done that, lived the dream, and the reality. Open Pros every time for riding the street. Arayas are too delicate.

  • I was going to get Arayas for Japanese reasons, but they just aren't gonna stand the test of time in London.

  • Tom, Tom, Tom...
    it really depends which arayas:)

  • Just go for H+Son or A23, wide, light and black make more sense.
