  • mmmmmmmm Phil Would

  • That's the shit that I'm talking about, they look rad. Bookmarked ;-)

  • only £125 too

  • I can confirm this

Spotter was very popular at the black tie event we were photographing last night.

  • dem bitches love cameras....

  • Does anyone know of anywhere that sells Keirin spacing axles in the UK? As in if just wanted to convert some halo hubs tor any other hubs for that matter to 8mm by 110m spacing?

Track suipermarkert do, but I can't be added with ordering from Japan again.

  • Is it just the axles that you need or a 110 spaced hub?

Brixton or Fitzrovia cycles might be able to help. Hubjub (RIP) would have been a good bet too.

  • 110 Spaced hub ideally but if that can't be sourced then a hub, and a 110mm spacer kit.

  • This is all I've seen so far.

Only other option, whilst looking on the internet that I'd be happy with, would be to buy these Gran Compe's and then purchase this conversion kit, which isn't that expensive.

Gran Compe's are definitely the more affordable, and sensible option, as they have sealed bearings.

  • Dude, I told you, 120 hubs are fine. Stop worrying.

  • Dude, I told you, 120 hubs are fine. Stop worrying.

    seconded

  • but this is a nice bike so should have the correct hubs

  • Stop trolling you

  • But as discussed Jack, that isn't the biggest issue, the main issue is the 8mm dropout size. As an example, tonight, I couldn't even remove the wheel from my dropout without being more forceful than I'd have liked......using a hammer to knock the axle back towards the opening of the dropout.

Obviously this is without the frame being cold set. If there is a simple solution to the 8mm dropouts - which I doubt. I'd be all up for using 120mm spaced hubs.

  • As I have said, just file the threads down (takes about five minutes max), and use some muscle to put them in. I've done this with System Ex hubs, then Gran Compe for four years, no problem. In fact I think on both there is a washer you can remove if you are that worried, but I could never be arsed.

Oh and save your money. Get System Ex and just upgrade with Phil Bearings.

  • Will have to wait until Christmas, but I've just ordered some very good condition 7600's with 100/110 front and rear spacing and 8mm axles. Used, but not too expensive at £123. With value marked as 'low' as to avoid import taxes.

Most likely will lace them to open pros or archetypes.

  • so you wanted to build another set of wheels to ride it everyday (well, sort of) and you bought hubs for 123 pounds which are not sealed..?

  • Everyday, when it isn't raining.

    ;-)

  • The hubs not being sealed really isn't that much of an issue - may just need an extra service.

I was going to suggest Goldtec front and rear as they're on sale at TFG - and that would come £150, so £123 is aiight.

I think archetypes are lovely looking things but have you thought about Velocity A23's?

  • Also colour match the seals

  • ^^exactly.

I have yes - the main reason I went for the second hand dura ace is because they come with keirin spacing so I wouldn't have to mess around with axles etc on any hubs that I purchased.

Had thought about A23s too - and please correct me if I am wrong - but I wanted a rim with a black braking surface, something that the archetype has. Does the A23?

  • the braking surface on archetypes wears down pretty quick though from what i've seen, just to let you know. Personally i'd go for Open Pro CDs

  • ^this
