signed up for this....
stoked at the prospect. have a pretty strong background in multi day endurance events but this will be my longest ride by a fair way.
Definitely geared though!

Was going to say commiserations to those that didn't get in and suggest Super Brevet Scandinavia instead, but apparently that is full as well. A shame really, would have loved to spend a few days riding with sweary, alcoholic forumengers.
Looks like 2013 might be the year of the 1200k+ ride, if you can get in. I hear China and Korea still have space on theirs, as does SVS.

^Awesome, email sent and fingers crossed!
I have the money sitting in my bank now (unlike when I was looking at the entry screen with insufficient funds to send the bloody thing off!)

Think we all should turn up in LFGSS jersey for the LEL team?

Fucking nutters.

The Facebook group is useful for info about additional spaces etc. Interesting breakdown of entries by country too.
I am almost certainly taking gears, though I will change my signup from 'Forever Alone' to 'team LFGSS' if I change my mind about that.

Only if fixed. I have actually been contemplating what to wear, I have my Uni jersey, a Manchester Wheelers jersey (membership lapsed..) and am planning on getting an LEL one too, should be able fit the LFGSS one in there somewhere too

Oh and was also thinking I should join AUK at some point as well! That £2 per entry soon adds up I'm sure!

Final tally of entries is 1018, against a ride capacity variously reported as 750, 850 or 900 - they're expecting about 900 to ride.
If you're not entered, and you want a chance to ride, you need to join AUK and email the organiser this week to request a waiting list place - more info in another place at http://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=67104.0

Thanks to the bag drops (free one in Dalkeith, extra one at Thorne) I wore 4 different jerseys during LEL'09. Saved the official LEL one for the last day (I'd stashed it in my Thorne bag drop). Had a shower at Thorne, Dalkeith and Thorne again on the way back. Fresh clothes every day is a must.
Was far more scuzzy on PBP, clean clothes for the 1st night/2nd day, 3rd and 4th days but had my only shower at 1160km at Dreux with just 60km to go.

Had a look and couldn't see this. I know he says you need to quote your membership number, but if you join AUK online you get a 'temporary membership number' (which at least in my case is the same as the one confirmed later by post as the permanent one) emailed to you.
Christ the way FB groups appear onscreen is a bit crap though.

Rider 1: "Ah.. done plenty of smaller ones but not a member. Thats me out is it?. Will have to sort something independantly as Ive publicised and started getting sponsors for the prem baby unit. Such a shame. Wish it hadnt opened early. Didnt receive an email either."
Me: "Rider 1 why not sign up to audax uk online now, get your membership number, then apply for the lottery?"
Danial: "Sorry, existing members only."
Still might be worth a gamble though!

OK, I don't get facebook at all. Can't see that comment on the page. Or do I have to join the group to read it?
[Edit]
OK, got it now. Still think the facebook discussion layout is shit.

That's a bit of a passive aggressive dick move. I hate it when people pull this nonsense, good to see Danial isn't wavering in the face of emotional blackmail.
Hope that those who aren't in don't get disheartened, there's still some other fantastic events out there to be entered. Many an audaxer would afford you far more respect for completing the Pendle 600 than LEL if you fancy a bit more of a challenge.
Wait, there's a choice?
