  • or they're spiked with EPO / whatever the current performance enhancing drug of choice is today

    #don'tdrinkit#

  • So far the days stage reads (on twitter) as just brilliant!

  • I'm watching a live stream, but only just started for the day. What the hell happened?

  • bloody hell. what a coup

  • Poor Rodriguez

  • Bertie has been smashing it..

  • Purito 2 mins 37 down on him and looks broken

  • What the hell happened?
    This. WTF?

  • Did Contador infiltrate a breakaway? Can someone please summarise.

  • whose is it?

Better skin than you'd think, given the face..

  • +1, thought I'd switch on watch the last ten minutes. All I got was the quote "it's a shame about the drug problems around Contador as he has proven that he is one of the greatest". What a ride.

  • Just shows what a bag of fresh blood can do

  • wow
Call Me Maybe - ORICA-GreenEDGE Pro Cycling Team - YouTube

If you can't win.. make a music video.

Look out for my mime efforts in a youtube channel soon..

  • Seems appropriate for an Australian team to make the second best call me maybe spoof video.

England vs. Aus are 1-1 on stage wins thank you very much.

If the other video isn't a pro cycling team >>>>

  • No, an Australian actually won a bike race. Trufax Once

Been there, done that, well before you lot decided to get involved.

  • I hear the Giro is considering this for next year!

Reading back over http://live.cyclingnews.com/ it sounds like Contador just had the energy and a team mate where Rodriguez was out of gas and mates. One ascending and one fading, big gap.

  • What the hell happened?

The TL:DW version of today's race...

    • Pace was off the hook (48kph). So fast ES only actually got to televise the last 30km!

    • Valverde and Contador had been attacking from the start, Contador gets away in a group eventually. Katusha in pieces and without friends.

    • Contador attacks pretty much on the flat taking only Tiralongo (Astana) with him who works hard for him in exchange for drugs (ok that bit I made up).

    • The Rodriquez/Froome/Peloton split (Froome >>>>>), Valverde rides off the front like a boss and soon picks up Movistar riders Contador has just dropped so he makes progress.

    • Rodriquez left riding on his own (apart from a Saxo and Movistar rider in his wheel). He stays ahead of the peloton but loosing big time to Contador.

    • The now organised main breakaway (with Valverde in it) comes close, but can't quite deny Contador the win and bonus seconds.

    • Contador wears RED, Valverde jumps to 2nd in the GC and Froome is knocked from the podium.

    • Rodriguez doesn't even unclip after the race, he just rides back down the mountain. An extraordinary day!

[ appols if there are errors ]

  • goddamn!

  • cannot wait for itv4 show

  • David Millar was going crackers with props for Bert's racing + German Eurosport saying it was like watching Landis = confused

Got to love lively racing after a rest day in Spain

  • Got to love lively racing after a rest day in Spain

...on the day Hamilton's book is published.

    Also...

"It's a sad day because I lost the Vuelta for sure," said Rodriguez, who came within one stage of winning the Giro d'Italia in May. "No one expected Alberto's attack and sometimes there's no answer to something so spectacular. He won the stage with two balls. But the race is not over and I will try, however difficult."

    Is this a Lance/doping reference?

  • Brilliant stage today, taking a look at the map, I did pretty much this route when I did a European tour last year, the Picos de Europa are just magical to ride through, that last climb is an absolute sod though, not to mention that to get from Santander to Fuente De took me 4 days rather than 4 and a half hours!

  • This years Vuelta is a belter..
