I have no idea how John Degenkolb's sprint technique works; it's just the ugliest, herky-jerky, upright, non-aero position possible. He must have stupid watts to make it work.

Definitely Vuelta > Giro > Tour this year.
True. But in prestige terms, the order remains the reverse.

He's good value in interviews but yes, he isn't exactly tranquilo. Better than the immense gurn of Greipel bearing down on the line though

Agreed, but to go back to Andy's initial point that Contador, Valverde 'look suspicious', they are actually producing watts/kg well below where Wiggins and Froome were at the tour.
There are some figures for the Vuelta here.
It'd be interesting to see what Froome was putting out when he was on peak form in France.

Maybe one day we will all see the live race telemetry? SRM did offer this for some riders and you could view several riders’ power, heart rate and speed data online during the Tour de France but this was banned by the UCI at the start of the year.
What possible justification could there be for the UCI banning live power/speed/hr data? Aside from the obvious routine idiocy?

Enjoyed reading dubtap's description of JD's sprint technique though
