and the DQ?
I did think the relegation tonight was harsh as Meares clearly touched her first.Vicky put her arm out as Anna was going past. There's no "oh she touched me first" relegation rule.

Victoria came out of the sprinter's lane twice, once "bouncing back" from Anna's nudge just after turn 4, then again, unprovoked before the finish line...
There wasn't contact. VP bottled it.

All open to interpretation.
Can't say I've watched it more than the replays that were shown, however I'd prefer to see consistency in the judging as there were similar infringements in the men's races with no rels.
I'm being objective though, as I never thought vic would get meares this year

Cheers everyone...
Tough few days inthe velodrome....Cruel result in Team Sprint and Jess has moved on already....
Really appreciate all your thoughts and feedback.....Onward..;-Sucks man.
She'll go get one in Rio though so no sweat.

Indeed interpretation....
My guess is as it was so close on the line (half inch) it had to go to Anna as without Vix's little flick she wouldve got past her...
They would also look at Vix going from the bottom of the lane to the top..
Very surprised with Anna's form today as she didnt look too great earlier on. Maybe slightly out with the taper...amazing what 2/3 days can make eh!

Agreed, in the keirin I though she was way off..

I don't think it was a response to a move Meares made or even purposeful, it was simply her going all out and making a mistake, rubbish way to go but thems the rules.
Is it individual sprint and keirin practice for Jess now on then Varno? Would be awesome to see her get three medals in Rio!

Decent first lap in TS too on Thursday....That said we wooped you in the first round....;-)))

Pendleton really seems to dislike the competition (racing, not her competitors). That doco on her made it sound like racing is an utter chore whereas for Hoy, he seems to love it all whether he's winning or losing. She really seems stoked to be able to quit. She got two medals so can't be too sad about 2012.

Retiring as world champ for the 6th time must be nice too

The sad thing is that (the way it's portrayed at least) she doesn't seem to be doing it for her, but for some sort of external approval. That's going to take its toll eventually. I hope she builds a relationship with cycling now that affords her the perspective to see just how mighty she has been and just what she has achieved.

I'm assuming this comment is for hippy and not me, JIm!?

She's definitely been a great role model and will continue to be for years to come, hopefully seeing others inspired by her performances and then helping them achieving their goals will make her realise that.

No chance. Doubt she'll gold the BMX though, have you seen how good Buchannan and the others are? Hope I'm wrong but...
Why no chance? Not the right level of ability, or because she fell out with coaches or just because she doesn't like it?
Hurts me to agree with you mate.....
