Sky missed Bernard Eisel today.
I don't know how much input he had in team selection, but I bet Froome wishes he'd picked some other riders now.
My guess is that "they" thought Kiryinenka was a big enough engine without actually thinking about worse case scenario and plan b.

Total anticlimax now that the stage is over :(
Why can't the lazy bastards just get started on tomorrow's stage now...
I want more!I demand more!Sign the petition in this thread then;

They missed his know how far more than his horsepower. He'd not have missed the Saxo move.

"Valverde 8 mins down. Out the top 10. Bad day at the office then."
"It'll be 10 min by the end of the day... Bad day at the office doesn't quite cover it."
9:54... Sorry, my mistake.

from The Science of Sport facebook page:
Best thing when #Cavendish wins stages is the great interviews he gives after. Today: "When echelons start...it's kind of like, you know if you have a feeling if you fall through ice, you've got five seconds? You've got five seconds, or it's over. And that's exactly what it's like in an echelon. You've got five seconds to make it right, otherwise that's it". Well put.

You can say what you like about Cav, but for a fat sprinter he reads a race well.
-
• #2735
I like him very much for that and also for his directness and humour in most interviews, but sometimes... well, you know.
-
• #2736
He can be very petulant when he loses.

So...thinking of my fantasy team...who's the men to watch tomorrow?
Too many climbs for the pure sprinters? Breakaway day?

attackers will attack... if they have the legs after today, just saw notorious attackers Westra and Hoogerland in tatters after the finish
race insight from @KenBobPryde
Nico Roche on the Saxo attack:
"We spotted that Froome wasn't well-placed, I spoke to Michael (Rogers), he looked to Alberto, who said OK. We shouted on Bennati who jumped. And from that point all we had to do was fasten our seatbelts."

Tomorrow has to be the day a break stays away. Voeckler must be a safe bet to be in it.

Lapse of concentration of Froome's part missing the echelon break - probably looking at his power meter instead, which he seems to do every 5 seconds - irritating as hell to watch once you notice.

Ftfy!

It looks like he's checking his shopping list on a post-it note stuck to his shopping trolley.

^^ Do you know what ftfy means?

Haven't got a clue... please enlighten me!

He has to constantly check Michelle's twitter feed - making sure she isn't going off on one.. Anyone notice that her profile picture changed to one of both of them as soon as he donned the yellow jersey.?

I spent more time than I'm willing to admit to the other day scrutinising one of lynchy's posts thinking "is there an ascii character there? has the OP changed his to match? Is he trolling us? Are both of them trolling us? What is going on?"

I wonder if the likes of Movistar, Saxo and Blanco will try to make Sky work tomorrow. Keep the pressure on their weakening squad before the Alps.
Send Tend Dam or Kreuziger up the road perhaps.

I watched the documentary on Cav last night. Amongst other things which were evident about his personality one thing stood out. He is ecstatic when he wins and a complete nightmare when he loses. But who wants to lose eh?
I don't understand people who can be so gracious straight after losing.
At least with with Cav, you know he fucking believes in what he's doing. He's invested in it.
Froome looked knackered and pretty pissed off on the podium
