props for all the work you've put into this, and although your bike does not meet my gusto,
you inspired me to see how light I can get my current project.I started with a carbon seatpost haha:)

Can you replace any nuts and bolts?
Seatclamp?
BB? -
• #29
barends?
Bar tape?
brake levers? -
• #30
nothing will be changed now, rides great

Are you riding a 1/8" chain and chainring? There is possibly about 150g of saving in switching to 3/32" chainring, sprocket and some SL (x)-speed chain.
-
• #32
1/8" and i don't want to change to 3/32" but thanks for the advice

Can someone Photoshop a track disc onto the back, with the FFWD wheel on the front?

on it
Can someone Photoshop a track disc onto the back, with the FFWD wheel on the front?
-
• #35
was just going to make it black, but thought i'd make it a bit more matching ;)
-
• #36
Nice work!
1.2kg though, wonder if there are lighter discs out there.
-
• #37
1,025g

Sugino Tension disc wheels are apparently ~850g.
You could replace the standard alloy rim with a carbon one and drop some weight there I think.
-
• #39
980g
-
• #40
780g
-
• #41
Those are built using exactly the same principle as the Sugino/Tioga tension discs, but with "carbon tape" rather than kevlar strands, hence the very similar weight.
-
• #42
Tester will be along in a moment I'm sure .. but not all discs are equal aerodynamically at beneficial wind angles (sail effect)
-
• #43
True- I however am currently using a) weight and b) looks to decide on a wheel recommendation that that Eingang can then ignore.
If aerodynamics were an important consideration then I would guess that some clip-on extensions would be the first port of call.

two week ago i decided to order a lighter front quick release skewer. the lightest i could found was the tune u 20. but they are currently not available in black and only for the front wheel at the german distributor and i don't wanted an unknown time i changed my order to a tune dc 14 (16g). it arrived 2 days ago and looks really slim.
stage 6: 6.35kg

Good job.
Light rear wheel and 3/32" transmission and you are well under 6kg.
-
• #46
Shhh!!! Don't give him ideas!!!
-
• #47
as i said before i'll not change to a 3/32" transmission. and i'm not quite clear about building a stiff and light rear wheel, regarding the use for the city and my weight. will see...
-
• #48
Possible rear-wheel, idea #87678:
black non-machined velocity aerohead o/c - 24h - 418g
american classic rear track hub - 24h - 180g
black sapim cx ray incl. nipples - 24h - appr. 108gtotal: 706g
current ellipse rear wheel: 990g
saving: 284g
new total weight: 6.066kgwoah.

Chinese carbon 50mm rim is 320g, plenty stiff for my 77kg.
-
• #50
you're talking about a tubular rim, i want a clincher one!
Thanks for your write up. I have been looking at a Seta build for the last couple of days so it's good to see one used on the road. What's the ride quality and geometry like for the road?
