It's been about in the US for a bit. Is it available over here now?
The Felt Breed completes look like the better alternative (again US only) with tapered HT, BB30 and 130mm spacing.
You mean the MASH SSCX? I think pre-orders have been taken, and framesets get shipped out next week.
You can order from the MASH site.

If you're referring that lightweight aluminium rotor with the spoke holes in it, you might want to check that measurement again ;-)

Anyone have any idea what these might be? SS mtb cranks? Something even tastier perhaps?
-
• #262
^ Might be designed to work with the new SRAM 1x11 spd?
-
• #263
Yeah. Good shout looks around 32T.
Could just be for general wheenie 1x drivechains though.

Yea whatevs 700c with caliper brakes, all this disc brake on road bike thing is just a trend, nothing new or innovative or useful. For CX yea makes a little more sense than road

Are there road bikes on this forum too?
:-)

Have you given much thought to the possible weight of a carbon tubular rim with no braking surface?
The very first place on your bike you want to save weight. Plus if you compare braking performance of a weight weenie set of hydraulic disc brakes, and a quality set of calipers on a rims carbon braking surface. There really is a massive difference. Give me the opertunity to have the performance of my WW disc brakes, and the lightness of carbon rims.....and I'd bite your hand off.

lets not talk about hydraulics unless they are implemented by major groupset makers (possibly starting at tier 3 groupsets like 105/rival/athena) in terms of cable pull, not much of a diff really AND the reduced weight of no braking surface on a tubular + the added weight of BB7 > weight of Tubular with braking surface and decent caliper brakes.
The more I think about the disc brake on road bike thing the more it makes me think that its a conspiracy to sell tubular rims ; )

Oh dear, I never even thought about road racing bikes when I posted that BB7 picture, but...... Racing down an Alp at 50mph using rim brakes on carbon rims with 1" tyres in damp conditions* = Do not want.
Properly controlled reliable all weather braking however.....
- I'm never going to do that if I can help it :-s

I'm convinced of the advantages of disc brakes on utility style road bikes. Such as the new offerings from Salsa. These bikes arent racing lightweights though.
I can see the argument for dream bikes with crazy light rims for acents, and discs for decents.
Everything inbetween....?
maybe not. But they look cool, and will sell bikes.

^ I wouldn't rush out to get a new lightweight roadie with discs. But for pretty much everything else, yes.

& will probably cause more people to do silly things like this...
Don't look if especially squeamish.

Another big advantage of disc brakes on a high end road bike is that is remove weight from the outside of the rim which has numerous advantages - the disc brake on a road bike argument is about more than better braking, and i think we will see mass adoption when manafacturers are able to realise all the advantages into a coherent backage
