The blitzeis* here in the .de took me down like 5 times on the way into work (although a couple of times was after I decided I couldn't ride and was walking with my beik.)
Fine, but black and blue in a couple of places. Glad I had a helmet on because I bonked it on the ground twice, not hard but.
I saw a bunch of other people falling about the same as me. Somebody should have filmed it and put Yakety Sax** behind it. It is scary how slippery and invisible that stuff is.
- I think more commonly called 'black ice' but that is what they call it over here https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Blitzeis

Most people would say "Glatteis".

Ah so. Well to be fair, that is what they called it at my work but my work is full of weirds. Also, I witnessed a 4 person rented-bike chain reaction fall at lunch.

"Blitzeis" is a perfectly acceptable new coinage but not that widespread yet. "Glatteis" is the more general term, as it doesn't just apply to 'sudden' ice.

Hah yeah. Just got a note from friends (married couple) both in ER. Dude just checked and released, girl broke her wrist. Both on the commute home from their respective works. Ice ain't from no games.

I managed to fall off while turning right this morning. I'm still not sure how. But I am impressed that my softshell came out of it a hell of a lot better than my elbow.

I had the opposite experience with my 5 day old jacket :(

This thread is for reporting minor road traffic incidents.
I've deleted the two of topic posts. -

Nope, just a bit bruised and grazed. Probably too minor to go in here really, but never mind.

Help needed please?
I was in a minor accident this morning (Friday 24th Jan 2014) at 8:15am turning right into Edith Grove from New Kings Road. I was stopped at the red light for the pedestrian crossing with one foot clipped in when I got rear ended by a MTB. I had no chance but luckily the guy stopped, exchanged details and amazingly a WPC appeared out of nowhere.
Although I am insured, he isn't and after getting up and thanking the other riders that stopped (some very vocally criticising the other riders ability in colourful language) I didn't manage to get any witnesses.
Did anyone see it? Can you contact me if you did? Unfortunately after everyone rode off I ended up with a damaged rear mech, snapped rear mech hanger, buckled wheel, bent spokes etc and I am looking at a small fortune to fix it all and sod all chance of getting it back any time soon.
Thanks for your help.

Didn't see it but he doesn't know you don't have witness details. Also worth checking CCTV if you're bothered. My point is if you call him up, tell him what has been damaged and how much cash you would like he may simply say alright and hand you the cash. If not then you can use CCTV and witnesses to threaten him with.

Me. Dickhead just just waltzes into the road thinking he can make it. He can't. Neither can I. It's either kerb, oncoming traffic, or him. I chose a soft landing. I brake, slam into him and take the brunt of the fall. Aside from out of line wheel, the bike is goddamned solid. I fucking love this thing all the more.
All I can think now is falling is starting to hurt. I want to be 15 again....

Me again.
Driver trying to enter into the Jet petrol station on Brentford High St pulled right across my path approx 20mph inducing an epic skid to avoid resulting in an equally epic Dukes of Hazzard bonnet slide ending in a not so epic heap on the floor.
Because I had the sense to leap she don't crushy leg the pedal cage went through the bumper crushing the cage and my saddle is proper fucked.
Everything else spins fine handle bars didn't need adjusting but as it's steel I should get it checked
She wouldn't give me her details saying "you wait here and I'll go home an get them" so I rang 101.
Police came details were exchanged.
Currently in West Mid A&E awaiting X-ray of my wrist (the one I broke last time)

Hmm - seems to be lots of it around atm.
I got wiped out by a Boris bike riding c*nt on Friday morning who cut across my path on that cycle route avoiding Elephant, near LSBU and Keyworth Street.
I wouldn't mind so much but a) he was totally at fault b) he fucked up my front wheel that needs a spoke replacing and truing c) my shoulder that took the impact is fucked and I haven't been able to cycle or go to gym since so am subjected to public transport and d) he didn't even stop to ask if I was ok as I was lying in the road as he and his "safety marshall" emblazoned hi-viz gilet disappeared into the distance.
Oh, and thanks to all of the cyclist cough non who stopped to ask me if I was ok as I cried at the side of the road, of a busy junction, at rush hour like the massive girl that I am.
Ho hum - am mostly grateful that it could have been worse and x-ray cleared me of a suspected broken collar bone, but fairly frustrated that the dick cyclist who caused it was totally not bothered and I've got to pay financially and otherwise for his actions. Harumph
I really hope you come away from this without a broken wrist Crafty - you've done your time injury wise!

On my way to work this morning, I was unwillingly following a borris cyclist and I though to myself 'wouldn't it be wonderful if borris bikes wee banned in london?' The old days before those horrible things were no doubt better.

I disagree, Barclays bikes have made drivers much more aware of cyclists, and more people on bikes is a good thing.

OH POOTS. Sadface. How are you doing now?
I was in a group of nine. Four went down. At the cafe stop someone else said they'd come off there. That road took dozens of people down that day, I'd bet.
