Haha, ulterior motives going on here ;)?
I've had my heart set on the original CD's so may just go with them. Thinking it may break up the black a little bit too. Going to have a wee think about it tonight and decide.. The Archetypes are sweet as though, had a look at them yesterday in TFG and I do like! -

Can't get the image up.. I'm crap with computers! Anyways, it's the hub with the CD rim.. I can't decide on colour and whether it'll work...

I think it would look good, probably better with black spokes.

• #105
Ahh man, I can't wait to see this built up!
EDIT: and of course, see the frame, have you had any update or will you only hear once it's all done and dusted?

Cheers folks.
Yeah Mr R emailed me at the start of the week saying that it's at the paint shop so it'll be another 2-3wks.. I may die if it's not ready soon..
Off to TFG very shortly to see about the wheels.. They also have black 36h Archetypes in stock so I think it's going to be a difficult choice! -

No doubt you've already seen it, but my old Roberts track has low flange black macks laced to open pro cd. I think they will work for you, trouble is, so will the archetypes, ha!
I still have two wheelsets using open pros (and a few been and gone) never had any reason to not use them, but the wider rim of the H+'s and their quality has me sold now, when replacement time comes. That said, those rims you have are very nice and not too easy to find now.Other option is to wait and see the frame and then decide. As long as tfg have stock you're only adding, a day, or two extra waiting.

The decision has been made, the wheels are getting laced..
I couldn't resist..
I cracked..
I chose black Archetypes..I also bought a Campag NJS BB (not for this build).
ImeatingbeansontoastforaverylongtimeThanks for the input everyone, they just felt right in the end!

Nice one! I think you made the right choice. So about this dibs business, ehem ;)

Hope so, think it should look fine. You have PM :)

^ Shit man, what bike have you not had mate ;)?! That looks amazing, did you have that custom made? Got some more piccies of it anywhere? Think I've got the same writing style on mine aswell which I wasn't completely sure of but it looks damn good on yours so it's laid my mind to rest! What colour's yours?

blushes
Nah, bought it off a buddy on here, it does feel like it was built for me... It's perfect... I very nearly sold it a few months back, but someone brought me to my senses and talked me out of it... ;)
It's a nice dark go-faster red... Nothing fancy tubewise, just bog standard double-butted Columbus...
Welcome to the club! -

Why use a layback post on a custom bike?
There's another one on the first page too.
-
• #115
Naaaahhhhh you shoulda stuck with the open pros imo.
B'Jammin, you got enough rims.
I should has the open pros.

doh! layback is the same as setback in terms of where it puts the saddle
-
• #117
Gaaah I feel like I've made a mistake now with the rims!! Guess I'll see how they turn out and go with the frame..
I asked Mr R regarding the seatpost and be said that it should be a layback.. -

This.
Unless the seat tube is 71 degree or the saddle have a lots of rail, no reason to go for it.

They're decent rims, beside Mavic doesn't exactly have the highest quality out there...

^yeah guess I'll see re the rims. Guess it may be an excuse for another wheelset in the end ;)
Was u meaning that there's no reason for a layback post unless it fits into those two criteria? Apparently he's designing it for a layback but I'm not sure how that affects the overall geo etc. He's not sent me an overall f&f design and geo so I'm going to ask for that once I collect it and hope its alright! -

Same with Eamsey's I think...
-

Tom, meaning that some frame geo required it, and of course the saddle.
Good example is the Brooks saddle required a massive amount of lay back on smaller frame.

The wheels are heeeeere :)
They look good IMO. Super stiff and spin forever. Now to see how they go with the bike. Love the single pink band on each hub, cuts up the black a bit. Also the matt from the HPlus' goes well with the hubs and hopefully the rest of the bike!
Front: 840g; Conti tube 100g; Panaracer Ribmo 23c 360g: Total 1300g
Rear: 1000g; Conti tube 100g; Vittoria Zaffiro 23c 330g: Total 1430g
I know it's not weight-weenie but not too bad for 36h wheels. Front 2 cross, rear 3 cross. Shall probably get some lighter tubes and tyres at some point. The rear is my choice of fixie tyre these days. Cheapest and last almost a month of daily brakeless slidez....

400g?? that's very heavy for a 23c tyres.
Maxxis Re-Fuse FTW.

My bad, it's 360g as per here (above altered)...

Thinking of the Conti GP 4000s @ 210g for the front.. Have that atm and it rides pretty well.
The hubs look ace, very nice indeed!
IMHO, You can't go far wrong with the Archetypes. I've been running them a little while and I'm really happy with them. They built easily, still perfectly true, strong, give a nice tyre profile, not too heavy, etc, etc.... Plus, they'll look great built up on the Macks.
Oh, dibs the open pro's ;)
