Thanks for the comments, yeah the rims are painted with rattle cans, i've painted quite a few things before and this has come out nice, so i will be doing the front soon.
As jonnylamb pointed out, the story with the frame was that the seat tube was replaced, and it hasn't been repainted since then. I'm not 100% sure but i think it was silver with that lilac sort of colour on the head tube and seat tube originally. I am considering getting the whole frame repainted that same lilac colour of the head tube, but i am open to suggestion if anyone has any other ideas?
Also now deciding which seat post to use, i am thinking the nitto s83 but a part of me really wants an sp72 the njs version of the s83 pretty much, what do you guys think?

depends on your budget really, you may get the 83 and after that get this horrible so well known itch doing your head in and you will at some point start to hate 83 because its not 72, but if you are not too fussed then I don't see any reason why you should overpay..
my philosophy was to get bits which match the frame, njs-ed or not, but if I see something non-njs where the difference is ONLY the stamp, I wouldn't pay more for some illusionary improvements.
best example is with straps, planet x are doing mks doubles alpha for 30 quid while the njs version costs something silly, I was inclined to run the non approved version as there is virtually no difference for me, truth is I got njs ones atm but thats only because somebody made me a good deal and they costed less than the others anyway....
depends on what person you are I guess, if you are ok to settle with something what gives you comfort thats cool and easier and cheaper for you too, but if you want to pimp shit out njs stylee and do it correctly and sensible, get familiar with the itch because it will never ever leave you, even after achieving what you in the beginning considered a "finished" build...sorry for long post:)

Hmm i think that answers my question, i'm not looking for all njs parts but some parts i really want, the jag stem for example. Damn, i think you might have just swayed me to buy the sp72 haha. cheers

Is a bike ever truly 'finished'? I've never done it :(

I'm never satisfied myself, I will just build something else when I'm done, I get as much enjoyment out of building them as I do riding them. :)

I wouldn't repaint the frame, I think as it is it looks awesome, and partly because it isn't like every boring colour way njs frame, IMO

Thanks, but i am a bit of a perfectionist, i don't think i could live with it like this, i really want it all one colour again. I think you would agree if you saw it in the flesh. i'm still deciding what colour to paint it though.

do a two tone!

Tempted man, but I really like yours and that's all one colour. Hmm.

Nice vivalo!
Im trying to restore mine at the moment, just finished the pantos but I haven't got any decals.
Is there any way you could take a couple of high resolution pics of the decals on your vivalo for me? Apparently I can't get decals made using low res images off google :( -

Good to hear of another, yeah I will get some pics tomorrow if I remember, it would be good to see some pics of it too.

I've just ordered a Nitto NJSP72 seat post, that should really improve the look. I'm also painting the front rim today.
Anodized tb14's
or gtfo...
This has got me thinking too, i had the idea of deep rims, but the pretty low profile rims do look so good on traditional track frames.
EDIT: however i do love this so much, pretty much what i had in mind: http://ratskl.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/img_9172.jpg

-
• #41
whats going on here?
i can give you some masking tape for that badboy. -

The front rim is painted, but because of the shitty BH i am waiting for my new seat post, and i will get a pic up as soon as i have it on. I also ordered a 17t miche carrier type cog. Sit tight i hope to have it sorted thursday, friday latest. :)
EDIT: still unsure what to do for a rear wheel, all i know is that i want a phil hub, no idea on the colour or rim... suggestions welcome!

you realized already that black looks the balls, by looking at that kinfolk pic. tad more practical too, I find.
what are these hubs, are they phils? deep hsons will look badass, but on the other hand box sections rims will give it a smart look. can be with a twist, with black rims, or classic polished finish. boring.
mine is going through stages, on the schedule are some box arayas as well - but thats only because I had my fun with hsons - and it was infinite fun.
and i think thats a good way, be bit gangsta with it in the beginning, and when you will feel like having some more sensible bits simply swap them.
whats the hole count on the hubs? sorry too lazy to count. -

yeah that sounds good, i want a v on the back at least, just to get it out of my system. i have a goldtec front on cxp33 which is staying for now, maybe i will re-lace it to a new rim at some point. and a system ex on dt585 rear, which is not staying, both are 32h. Interested to see what yours looks like with the low profile rims.

I can donate you a hson ff black rim for free if you want, its quite nice. bought it off maddy, its 32h, and I don't have a hub for it yet.

Last night when i came home from work, i had a couple of parcels waiting for me. One from wiggle, and one much more important from will at hubjub (many thanks will). Anyway i've just fitted my beautiful new seat post and here is the result, also note the painted rim, plus i've fitted the miche 17t cog out back for that 48-17 ratio.
Next up, new rear wheel.

looks soo much better.
btw Im awaiting a big box with funny [wom-wom]content inside so I may have a box for your rim too:) -
• #48
Thanks man, and please let me know about the rim, i will make it worth your while if you could post it. :) wom-wom?

its the sound plastic wheels make.

the change of seatpost and saddle and the addition of bartape has transformed this. proper nice.
So the original paint was a painted head tube and only a clear coat on the other tubes, with stickers. Doesn't sound very NJS to me but looks nice anyways.
