Not super light. But cheap.

KMC D202 silver chain.
Not the lightest I guess, but pretty decent.
For forks.

I was hoping for 5.5 - 6Kg, and around 2k. Should be easy, as long as you steer clear of mad saddles, and crazy cranks etc.

i paid appr. £1,200 for mine with 6.46kg, some parts were 2nd hand

You got a photo of that build Eingang?
-
• #84
sure. slack chain is already fixed.

Making some assumptions along the lines of:
- Iain is a big lad, therefore weight limited parts are out
- He may feel more comfortable purchasing light carbon parts new.

You've got £800 to lose 460g in that case- that's achievable.

could do most of that with the rear wheel easy enough.

On paper this OTP Felt looks like an ok starting point.
It's under 1500g for the frameset.

sure
Cheers. Looks sturdy for its weight. -

It's not working that well on my phone, but I'm pretty sure these guys have v light track cranks: http://www.mythiccarbon.com/routepiste.htm
I'd still go for 2nd hand force, stripped, with whatever light 3/32 chainring you can get. It'll help save the £££s for some other WW parts.
EDIT:
More crank weight/stiffness info here: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43526
Tune would be good, but at the end of the day I'd choose something that has a balance. Price/weight/stiffness Sram seems to have a nice balance. The thing that seems surprising on the table is how well Rival does.

How much does your prolite frame weigh Iain? I think that would be a perfectly good starting point for a weight weeny build
-
• #92
No idea dude. I have always wondered but I would need to strip it down to check.

I need to buy a Dammit scale

Velocity A23 plus Mack ultralight hubs should push it down easily (28h).
-
• #95
No, that's a 426g rim, far to heavy.

Chance are itll be between 1600-1800g, moderately priced alu track frame weight that much.

Strong, cheap, light, removed one.
It's apparently decent for CX, velOcity sell a wheelset for under 1500g AFAIK (24/20h).

Stan's would be a better choice.
Also it's only 24mm deep isn't it? Surely you're better off with something similar/or higher weight so you can bring the spoke numbers down.
Given Ian's weight (no offence) I'd go for something a bit deeper and stronger on the rear to sacrafice some weight saving. Hence my suggested kinlin 380. Altho you'd have to stack up the difference in weight saving between loosing a couple of spokes and the saving of the stan's at 380-400g.
Another option is BHS new rim - C472w : http://www.bikehubstore.com/C472w-p/c472w.htm
Weight: 472-482 grams (Most recent batch of 24h are weighing in 476-482g)
Width: 23 mm
Depth: 28 mmExtra depth *might *give some more strength on low spoke counts.
Last I looked at them was for a SS MTB build and I remembered them being light for the monies.
I was also thinking about ease of set-up. Which is why I also suggested a standard track rear hub. Its by no means a super clever bling build. More what I would probably do myself.
I guess the Cannondale cranks would be difficult to beat for weight/stiffness.
