says you!!
(hope youre coming tonight!) -

Strong, cheap, light, removed one.
It's apparently decent for CX, velOcity sell a wheelset for under 1500g AFAIK (24/20h).
I must have missed where Iain said he intended on using this bike for cyclo cross.
1,500grams is 33% heavier than this wheelset needs to be- that's a massive margin.

I can accept that Im a big boned lad ;-)
i have 93kg :)

EDIT: tooooooo slow on the typing Oswald's nailed it imo.
My American Classic Aeros come in at
WEIGHT Front 745 gr Rear 840 gr Pair 1585 grJust a quick search from my planned wheelbuild brought up a BHS hub/A23/ACI build coming in at an estimated 1489.9g
So switch the A23 for a Stan alpha 340 and some lighter spokes, alu nips and I reckon you can do much better.
Custom aside, I still think a modified front mtb hub will give you the best weight £/g.
$50 and 132.5 grams. (obvs need to add the weight of an axle, cog, and ti cog bolts (but surly they must be cheaper than a steel lock ring(?)).

definitely not CXing this...
Eingang, Im around there too. About 90kgs, and probably will be getting a fair bit heavier in the coming months.

Expecting?

I enjoy the gym so I tend to get heavier, not lighter, when Im training.

He's just started doing some leg exercises.

the only muscles Iain's been working lately are his thumb muscles from excessive xboxing.

Im looking to build a Weight Weenie long distance fixed bike.
This is what I'm wondering: Why does Iain want a long distance bike?
Catford - Zone 1 ≠ long distance!
-
• #113
Except for your skinny matchstick boned legs, that is.
Looks like a bowling ball on chopsticks.

Catford is in Bournemouth...
Seriously though, why not. Its something Ive always wanted to do, nothing more.

Why not? I built up a fast bike to ride slowly and make me smile, you built up a bike with painstakingly sourced outdated components to make you smile, if Iain's lightweight distance bike makes him smile then it doesn't matter how it's being ridden (or not).

I would like this bike to have bull horns but i cant find ultra light bull horns like my FSA K-wing Compacts drops.
Why not stick with drops if it's for long distance? Those extra hand positions are sure to come in handy at some point. -

"It's all about the ride".
The ride in this case being metaphorical; the build process.
Not an actual ride.
Obviously. -

I was more wondering if he had plans to ride this long distance lightweight long distance.
If not, why not a build a short distance lightweight bike? Surely it will make him smile more?
Otherwise he's building a bike which from the off is not suitable for purpose.

He will be too muscle bound to flex into the drops.

Good point. I wonder if it can take aero clipons...
-
• #121
If solo then aero clipons can make sense, if in a group you'll likely get slapped.

The long distance I guess would be for the comfort thing. I can ride almost any of my fixed stiff track geo bikes for short distances. But I think im compromising on weight by using a proper track frame when it doesnt need to be as stiff (as DJ points out).

Does this mean im on your list Em?!
