Furry, I actually didnt think you were as heavy as me... Guess its all in the name ;-)

You should definitely use a 3/32 drivetrain if you are weight weenie-ing. Cinelli Tempo are probably the lightest bullhorns I have come across, they are very light but the ones I have tried have felt slightly flexy, I do not know if they are all like that.

I'm 169cm, and quite furry. So its half right. I'm also >85 Kg , with a BMI > 30. So it might be a touch misleading.
(FTR I got the nickname for my 'small angry guy' syndrome when drunk. + being furry I guess)
I'd like to drop closer to 80 now that I wont be playing rugby 15s for a while.
Although I too enjoy the gym so maybe not ;)

Oh, and im sure the mathematicians in the group can verify this, but wouldnt reducing the weight in the wheels be of utmost importance due to their rotation?
Or am I asking a load of bollox?
-
• #132
Yes. And to be precise weight at the outside of the wheels matters most but for the love of fuck sake don't just buy the lightest tyres and latex tubes going as, I assume, you're going to be riding this across London on occasion.

burls ti, easton fork, royce wheels.
and whatever finishing kit -

Buy a frame which is too small and run a longer stem and seatpost.

Scrape all the paint off and drill speed holes in the forks.

The rimes are tubeless, would that matter? Serious question - i dont know anyone who rides tubless tyres in london
-
• #137
I have precisely zero inside knowledge of tubeless but surely if you're going that route then it's worth considering tubs?
-
• #138
Just don't ride where ever Dammit went earlier this week.
Or take your bike to Wests as you'll suffer tubaids. -

Rims are tubeless compatable .. means you can use tubeless or standard clinchers with tubes

If you're on a budget. Replace hubs, nips and spokes with these.....
Front spokes =PSR TB 2015 = 19.47usd
Rear spokes = PSR X-TRA 1420 = 57.96usdhttp://www.bdopcycling.com/Pillar-Spokes.asp
Nipple = 60 alu = 18.92 usd

Hub front = Vorderradnabe road front = 49euro
Hub rear = Vorderradnabe XC front = 69eurohttp://superlight-bikeparts.de/Criterium-Vorderradnabe-Leichtbau-Industrielager
http://superlight-bikeparts.de/Criterium-Naben-Criterium-XC-Naben-MTB-Disc-Nabe-Vorderradnabe*£156 the lot instead of your £432*, plus a little delivery. I've never been stung with customs ordering from BDop before. But UK custom might be less lazy then mine.

320 grams for a hutchinson
vs
~70g for a tube
~200g for a UltremoSo not really worth using tubeless at the moment. But in future there may be other tubeless road tyres.

FTR I'm getting on brilliantly with my 23/25mm F/R ultremo combo, together with latex inners.
Magic carpet ride.

- some sealant.
I cant help but wonder how much sealant piss's out at 100PSI before it manages to seal anything. Bike Bukkake!

Far and Near road brakes seem to be more readily availible in europe now. Decent WW caliper for resonable monies.

I'm sure the Flickr says custom parlee single speed.
If it is fixed then there's not foot retention which is even worse!!!!

There aren't any pedals on it?
This was my basically suggestion. But on a budget.
Plenty of German WW bike shops have cheap front hubs in both road and MTB versions. Pillar do a cheaper version of DT revolution spokes. Which I would use on the front (24 radial). Then go with 32 (3x) of Pillars version of CX-rays on the back, together with a cheap WW front MTB hub. Add alu nips, veloplugs, latex inners, and Ultremo tyres (23mm front/ 25mm rear), and you'll have a solid, light, and well priced wheelset.

I'm thinking <1200g for the pair (without tyres or tubes).
