im resistant to Goldtec as i have a pair...
I was sold on the fact that everyone thought they were bomb proof.
Ahh the old "bomb/bullet-proof" phase of '08. When 9st hippsters were rocking 36h deepvee's and steel ck downhill headsets to migrate along the spice route.
Just base your spoke count and rim depth on your weight.
24/20 on a 50mm
28/24 on a 38mm
32/28 on a 24mmProbably optimal to get a 50mm rear with 24 spokes, and a 38mm front with 20. Would be better on windy days than a 50mm front perhaps.
If farsports can do you a light hub pair in these drillings.
The man speaks sense... altho remember that with clinchers you won't get most of the weight savings. IIRC there is only one "light" clincher, and it's a 50mm. So you should probably have that on the rear to allow you to have the low spoke count. Also IIRC that's is the one smallfurry has.
There's the wind argument, but if a 50mm is going to be basically the same weight as a 24/32mm then what's the point in having a heavier* non matching front?

I know you already haz, but at least they are tried and tested and you wont break them ;-)
Also everyone knows that for each 100g of crabon you add your bike looses 105g, right?

you can have my ffwd tub front wheel. total weigh is only 871g (incl. tire and quick release).

My AC 420 front
WEIGHT Front 745.
With tube and tyre i would be surprised if it was much more than that.
-
• #1608
tyre ~200g. Inner tube ~100g. So approx 1045g

Last I checked they did'nt seem o have my rims anymore. Mine are 48mm carbon clinchers. Toray 1000 carbon, with kevlar reinforcement, and a hard PU foam filling. At least thats the flash description. I took a massive pinch of salt when reading it myself. I dont go over 105 PSI on them (run just under 100PSI, but over fill as I have latex inners which lose pressure over a day or so). I also tensioned them very slowly. Helped by the fact that my rear DS, and NDS hve near equal tension due to the triplet lacing.
I figure you might as well go with a 38mm rim on the front, and a 50mm on the back, and keep the 24/20 Should be plenty solid if built well.
Most importantly they will need 'Super light' and 'Super safe' decals in the Lightweight font.
