a potential fork, made by Whisky 7
or the Carver one
-
• #178
do they ship to the uk?
-
• #179
yep, they both look pretty similar, so the Whisky is winning in terms of being a little bit more low key
-
• #180
lynskey offer the whisky on their website for your frame so it should be a good match
-
• #181
to get a wound up would be too expensive, and take too long
so the whisky is looking more than likely to be the fork i will end up with
-
• #182
wound up belongs in the last century.

i got this fork from poison bikes in germany, has massive clearances!
the weight is down wrong, cant remember exactly but was closer to 5 or 600 than 800g
-
• #184
how is the fork? any good? what bike is it on?
-
• #185
how is the fork? my german is a little lacking, can i check it is 1 1/8" and takes mudguards?
how quickly do they deliver?
-
• #186
It's 1 1/8" and it's got eyelets (presuming it's the one from the poison site...) Can't find anything on approx. delivery times...
-
• #187
^^ poison fork on my cooper cx, has mudguard eyes, delivery was prompt and efficient !!
and i was wrong it was 700 ish grammes weight with un cut steerer

so you are using sram red on yours? what is the rest of the spec?
i have the same handlebars for mine too
do you know what the rake was on the forks?
how does your bike handle in general? have you added panniers too?
-
• #189
handling is very nice, its very neutral, you almost forget its there if that makes sense, nothing harsh, uncomfortable or tiring about it… i did spend a lot on the wheels, dt swiss hubs and rims with some super expensive sapim spokes, sram reds just the shifters, rest is apex and a rival compact crank, got a long cage rear but am just using the short cage with a 28 cassette, have a tiagra 30 to try out and reckon it should work without putting the long cage one on.
(no rack or panniers, use a carradice saddle bag)

making me feel so jealous
think i will press go on the fork at the beginning of next week, just need to chat with my lbs, as we had agreed a price for F&F but looks like it will be frame only that i get from them now
-
• #191
Genesis will be using the Whisky fork for their 2013, so it should be good.
-
• #192
the poison fork is 130 Euro, the whisky is £209, the custom Wound Up would be US$500
the poison is winning at the moment
-
• #193
make more sense, is the axle-to-crown is within Lynskey's recommendation?
-
• #194
assuming it is the same as the redline fork it has 45mm rake, 395mm axle to crown
the whisky fork has 45mm rake, 398 mm axle to crown which lynskey suggest for their bikes
lynskey also use wound ups with 47mm rake and 395 axle to crown (which from their bike geo chart is the correct rake for the frame)
so lynskey seem to allow a bit of smudge on the issue

I doubt you'd notice much difference when riding with any of those three choices.
I've only got experience of the Wound Up forks, which I had on my disc cross bike when I was running discs. They were very solid but I'm not sure I'd pay the premium for them ahead of the other two options. They have their own particular aesthetic too.

• #196
How long do you need the steerer tube to be? I have a set of carbon forks with eyelets sat here...
-
• #197
will need to work this out, what fork is it that you have?
-
• #198
wound up belongs in the last century.
Poor, misguided fool.

• #199
Poor, misguided fool. They were still just as ugly then as they are now.
