at me or Zed?
You. It's your bike being built.

• #128
was not sure if Zed was also investigating bars too
may well try to come and have a feel of your bars, will be in touch next week if that is ok
given your knowledge of CX bikes are there any suggestions you might have for the bike?

Dov was bitching at me on Tuesday that the bartape on my bike is only used on the tops, and that my drops are barely ever touched!
Surely thats down to set-up. My hoods position is'nt totally optimised, because I've prioritised the drops position. Also, the whole 'slam-that-stem' thing is also pointless if it just means riding the tops all day.
Another fun option is 'dirt drops'. Properly set up, they make your bike look shit. As you want the drops high. But man you can throw the bike around off-road.
I'd also consider using a 1cm or so shorter stem, comdined with a 1cm or so longer reach bar, for such a bike. As opposed to a road bike Gives you more varitation in ridig positions.

When I had the 3T bar, I find myself riding on the top because the flat section was reasonably comfortable.
Now on a Salsa bar without a flat top, I rode on the hood, more comfortable either way.
What I'm saying that it could be a force of habit to just ride on the top out of convenience.

I fucked up, those bars were acquired by a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago. Sorry.
As for suggestions, I've none at the moment as I think you're doing a fine job. I'm going back to discs at some point in the future, but want hydraulic ones that are Di2 compatible. It's not going to be this year though, there's another little project on the go that is taking priority.

Could you imagine Skully's apoplexy if I described having a baby as "a project"?
I'm building a new cyclocross bike, to be used purely for racing.
-
• #136
Racing? Not cyclocross then?
