  • Is that the Cervelo that may or may not be fixable?

  • Clearly didn't need the shims :-)

No. That was with the 1mm cassette spacer underneath, looking at it now I think that might be unnecessary too. So maybe all good!

  • It will probably hit the head tube if you take 1mm of shimming out. Try a feeler gauge in the gap, it's supposed to be 0.2-0.3mm.

  • Hmm, does it not matter that its rotating smoothly? Or will it quietly file away at my headtube causing a sudden and catastrophic carbon fiber failure?

I've got some 0.4mm thick stainless steel shims in that size, i.e. 1.375" internal diameter, if you want something a bit thinner than the 1mm thick cassette spacer.

    Any of these hanging around?

  • If it touches the headtube, your bike will instantly explode, killing anybody standing within 100m.

Or it will just make a creaking noise and you'll spend 3 weeks dismantling and re-greasing your chainring bolts.

Yes, I have a couple of spare 0.4mm shims.

  • ^ Second seems more likely. I hope.

Might take 1 (or more if you are happy to part with them?) just for correctness

  • Or you could leave it as it is, you have IP40 protection, the only way to get up to IP60 is with a rubber contact seal, and your bearings already have those anyway.

If you want to be a tart and get the clearance down to a minimum, two shims will be £10 posted.

  • Hehe, okay I'll think about it. Maybe when I get the steer-er cut and a custom bung as well.

Not sure the gap is any bigger that the one at the fork/ht end anyway.

  • Could I get a 45x2 spare please?

  • Yes, send money and it's yours

  • Money sent

    many thanks

  • received, thanks.

  • Is that the Cervelo that may or may not be fixable?

It is. The lbs seem to be confused as to whether or not it's fixed and I've not had time to actually go into the shop to discuss it with the mechanic in person. Fingers crossed tomorrow might be the day.

  • Completely forgot about this thread, sorry. Next time there's a run I'll put my name down again, and pay straight away!

  • If you need 2mm deep, they are available immediately in 45,46 & 47mm diameters.

  • Got a 46 in silver (i.e. not anodised)? If not, when do you expect a next run?

Also out of interest, would there be the possibility to get something made in 46 OD X 15mm high? I know it defeats the object a little, but this is what I need, and I'd rather achieve it with a single piece than cover + rings. Thanks.

  • No silver, as you're the first person who has ever asked so I just got the whole batch blacked. Next batch will depend on building up sufficient orders to make it worthwhile, between odd sizes and a need to restock. Unlikely to be soon. I could do this design with more stack, in fact I will probably do so for my 585 as it doesn't need to be slammed, but we're back into the realms of £40 per drawing at the machine shop, as these things are 90% setting up and 10% knocking out the second and subsequent units.

  • Understood...happy to share costs if there's a critical mass. Cheers.

  • I apologise for being terribly lazy, but does anybody know what diameter I'd need for a CAAD10?

    47/2 fits mine perfectly!

  • Has this been resolved yet?

Hi Mr T, sorry for messing you around, had some work issues, then some money issues, then some health issues... And forgetfulness too. I got the other condor top cap through yesterday, thanks for sending that, pleasant surprise. The first was a little imperfect but I appreciated that the engraving wasn't a perfect art... Looking at the new one though I take that back as it is bang on.

Will sort out a measurement soon and add myself to the headset cover list for the next run.

    Many thanks vneilv.

    Any 47/2's remaining Tester?

  • Yes

  • Any idea what will fit a Hiddenset?

  • Depends on the frame, the bearings are 41.8 but the wall thickness around them could be almost anything.
The low option (i.e. not TTC)is pretty low to start with, so one of my covers is only really going to make much difference if you have a TTC and the standard low cover is unavailable or more expensive.
