48:20 is unsurprisingly rather spinny, I cycled in this morning with an 18T sprocket in my bag, and a chainwhip.
However, I think I'll leave it as is for a while to see how I get on with a mightly 63.3 gear inches.
The seatpost kept slipping down, I had greased it before fitting it, which may have been an error.
Wiping the grease off stopped that anyway.
All in all, very pleased with it. Now maybe some lighter wheels...

paint it or polish it dammit

where did you hide the three bags of sugar ? down the seat tube ? did you weld lead to the cranks ?
-

Hah, the cranks on this are considerably heavier than the cranks (containing a power meter) on the road bike.
They are also 3% of the price, which may have something to do with it.

Anyone want to swap a 10 degree Thomson Elite X4 for a 0 degree one?
120mm.

Really nice. Where did you get the crank and wheels from?
-
• #61
The wheels are off a Bianchi Pista, I got them second hand off the classifieds here for ~£80 I think.
The cranks are the outboard bearing ones that On-One sell, £79.99 in the sale.

Which hubs?
And were you not tempted to get a road front like SuperLight's?
-
• #64
Unbranded Novatecs, £37.22 delivered including PayPal fee, in the spirit of trying to spend as little as possible.
Weight isn't a consideration for this really, I just put the hubs on the scales out of curiosity.

For a pair that's a really good price.

Tempted by one of these for a project myself - I've got so many spare parts bare some wheels.
Dammit if you go down the WW route (I'm sure you will) let me know and I'll buy these wheels.

Wish I had a decent parts bin. Mine consists of what's left of my iron.

Dropped the hubs off today, hopefully the rims are wending there way also.
Should have them together just after Roubaix.
The rims:

I'm confused - wasn't this meant to be the pub bike?

The project has gripped him, and now he can't help making it better and lighter!
I've got the same problem with my alu Langster. The lightness of the frame makes me want to splurge on lighter wheels.
Where did you get your carbon rims from, Dammit?

Yeah, then I had a bit of a change of direction- it is now going to be a ghetto time trial bike:

Rolling it in glitter?
I'll wrap it in old inner tubes.
