  • Nothing on there qualifies as glitter!

It's being put togetehr with parts that can be repurposed, to see if I like suffering over 10 miles, and because I like projects, basically.

    Just waiting on wheels now.

  • nerg'd for poor locking technique

  • Only joking.

It looks like it'll be fun, and I guess if you like it you can switch all the bits onto a proper frame and then rebuild it as a beater.

  • your hands look to be in a strange position on those aerobars.

  • Possibly because all I've done is attach them currently- zero setup performed so far on those.

  • Ok, so it's a bit high at the front. Quite high. Really high, maybe.

  • Lovely. I love my Langster, I think I might have to give it some TLC now that the polo bike is finally done.

But then I've got my Christiania bike coming up soon, and want to build up my IRO as an ironic hipster fixie.

    Too many projects.

  • Slight issue- I've not put the verniers on this ring yet, but it was sold to me as a 1/8th inch ring, yet the chainring bolts from the old ring are definitely too long.

  • Your aero bars look quite high, do you think you'd be better off with something that mounts closer to the bar, like this, with the extensions underneath?

You'd probably be 2-3 inches lower on the front that way, though you'd probably want to bring your saddle forward if possible to maintain hip angle and avoid being too stretched out

  • Entertainingly I ordered a pair of those very extensions today, what I don't know is how my position will work with them

  • The ones on the bike in the pictures are for sale for £25 if anyone is interested btw.

I'd be very interested to learn how you get on and what you think of the quality, I'm thinking of going for these for a tt build because of their adjustability and price.

Only downside I can see is weight, which isn't massively important on a tt bike, not as important as position anyway.

  • eyebrows might like the aerobars.

Weight is not a consideration on this bike, aerodynamics are the name of the game. Not that you'd know if from the frame that I chose.

    eyebrows might like the aerobars.

If FixedWheelNut pulls out I'll give Henri a shout.

  • I'm interested in those bars if FWN changes his mind... 2nd dibbed last night in your other thread!

  • Duly noted.

Right- will I die if I turn the chainring round so the chainring bolts don't bottom out?

  • Hey dammit, I might take the tt extensions, pmming u

  • oops just read, 3rds then

  • Right- will I die

    Eventually, yes.

    /MDCC

  • I will try it and see, new tt bars might be here tomorrow so I need the bike to work for the rigorous testing

  • They don't fit on the bars, sadly.

    Bugger.

  • Wrong clamp size?

  • To get the aero bars in the correct position they need to clamp the handlebars exactly where the diameter narrows from 31.8 to 26.4mm.

  • I think I need a pair of these:
