How would your usb controller being on when the computer is on and staying on when sleeping cause a boot problem?
-
• #5628
It's not an input device in itself it's a port that an input device plugs into to get power and to signal to the computer. Think of it like an extension lead with individual plug switches on, if you power down the extension lead you also power down everything plugged into it.
usb keyboard(input device) - usb controller(extension lead) - computer

I thought you were suggesting changing the boot mode. Sorry, didn't think that through.

I get that but I still don’t understand why is the option greyed out. Also like I said, I also connected a Bluetooth mouse and it works fine but it too won’t wake up the machine. 🥺🥺🥺

Please don't let the next post be that the bluetooth mouse receiver is being plugged into the same usb ports. I don't think I could take that.
-
• #5632
Nope! The Bluetooth comes with the motherboard.
Whilst I haven’t used a pc in years I still know how to use a computer... 😬

Don't you have a SSD as a OS drive?
-
• #5634
Yes...
-
• #5635
Which motherboard do you have?
-
• #5636
So why worry about Sleep or Hibernation? The OS will boot virtually instantly and as it is a desktop you don't need to worry about battery issues.

Check the setting in page 55 and no other.

Win10 / Microsoft Edge
I have just installed Windows 10 for somebody, peace of cake surprisingly.
Found that the "web" search results (when typing in the search bar) was confusing the person (they only ever want to search their own PC using the search bar), so got rid of Microsoft Edge as this was supposed to rid the "web" results.
Oh boy. Of course it now still shows the results (using whatever browser or wizardry), but they just can't be fucking opened now.Long story short how do I reinstall Edge.
I tried various of the delete it completely / re-install via PowerShell (Get-AppXPackage) instructions, they don't work for me.
Also stripped the Win10 of the last two major updates and re-updated; this brought the folders back in Windows/SystemApps, but launching the .exe does not actually do anything. -

Will do. Got distracted to do stuff on my Mac last night... 😬

Cheers mates, sorted the USB wake issue now via BIOS... but... my Bluetooth keyboard still won’t wake the machine... any other idea?
So USB mouse and wired keyboard can now wake the machine but not my Bluetooth mouse... 😅
Update: It seems because the bluetooth is a part of the motherboard, it won't wake up until the machine has woken up, so I cannot use bluetooth devices to wake up the machine... oh well, nevermind...

Actually probably the same problem...let me read your motherboard manual to find out which setting to change.
EDIT: No, thats probably bollocks as I assume that you;re using onboard bluetooth

A workaround for this would be to use a Bluetooth USB dongle instead of onboard bluetooth I think

Yes, I chose this motherboard because of the onboard Bluetooth and Wifi as it's non either equivalent was like £30 less, so I thought why not... obviously, I thought wrong, should have bought the Bluetooth and WiFi adaptors separately... lesson learnt.
So no direct solution to it other than getting a USB Bluetooth receiver, but it's OK, just remember my good mouse is a dual bluetooth / USB one, so will use the USB on that and don't ever try to wake the machine using the keyboard...
Or buy a receiver... or steal 1 from work... There's gotta be some laying around... Surly! I might even have 1 in my work drawers somewhere... I hoard computer cables / adaptors stuff at work...

The last Bluetooth dongle I bought cost less than a fiver.
I've always found bluetooth keyboards and mice to be a bit shonky anyway. And to be fair, its not the fault of your motherboard, more your choice of keyboard!
Which bluetooth keyboard is it?

This article sumamrises the differences between a wireless keyboard and a bluetooth keyboard

Doesn't mention that Bluetooth input devices aren't BIOS compatible though.

It is my choice... entirely... :-(
Keyboard is this: https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k2-mechanical-keyboard
I also have a trusted wired keyboard anyway...

That's bloody lovely!
Bios is next in my list but I don’t want it fuck it up. Your USB allow this device to wake computer is also greyed out?
