This is the top Google result, have you tried this?

It sounds like it's hibernating rather than sleeping.

That’s exactly the website I looked at before posting... 😳 I also saw a few forums people experiencing the same problems but before investigating further, I thought there might be a simple solution.
I will also try the good old fashioned turning off and on again once the adobe suite is done downloading itself since this morning! 🙄🙄🙄

My broadband connection / same issue with all my other devices... contract has run out now so will probably switch...

What’s the difference? 😬 it was only inactive for about an hour...

Hibernating uses zero power, as RAM is saved to disc, and needs a press on the power switch to wake it up and copy disc back to RAM. I think it's disabled by default these days.
Sleep uses very little power, just enough to preserve RAM and check for USB events etc.
Hybrid sleep (which I think you have to enable) copies RAM to disc as well in case of power loss e.g. running out of battery while asleep.

Could well just be interference from neighbouring WiFi networks.

Check the USB controllers, the keyboard could get disconnected as the controller it's plugged into gets powered down?
edit - it's going to be a stupid laptop isn't it?

Maybe. It it probably was my internet provider being shit. It’s Sky and to be honest, h have wanted to swing ch for a while but we don’t have That main choices on our streets and most most of the available ones are in fact using BT... 🤷🏻♀️

I have just disabled hibernation and it’s still behaving the same way...
Disabled - Enabled - Disabled again... also restarted the computer. No luck!

• #5612
Nope, it’s my new desktop.
How do I check it?
-
• #5613
Same as you did in the device manager settings for the keyboard but just look for the usb controllers. I'm on windows 7 but it's the same really.

Cool, just checked and every single one on the list has option 1 ticked but I presume I’d have to tick the allow this device to wake the computer? Which are all greyed our?
Apologies everyone, last time I used a PC properly was with I was 17. Using PCs are work don’t count as they won’t allow you to do any of these troubleshoot anyway...

can I just check 1 thing, are we saying this is definitely a software issue and not that I have got a doggy hardware somewhere? Because if it’s software it’s easy just a matter of find the fix. If it’s hardware then I’d wanna call Overclockers first thing Monday to let them know... could it be a dodgy motherboard? Or the CPU?
I can’t see why it would be hardware but like I said, this is first PC in years...

Yea, those boxes need to be ticked
When you say greyed out, do you mean you can't tick them? That's the first step in the article I linked to....
-
• #5617
I think if you pair them like this it will all work as you want.
-
• #5618
And yes if option 1 is ticked then to save power they turn off so the devices plugged into the usb ports(the keyboard) won't wake the computer.
If you need to check get an old fashioned ps/2 connection keyboard and plug that in to wake it(if your computer even has one of them ports still).

• #5619
I know but I can’t tick them. I read the article again and followed the steps. But the greyed our boxes can’t be ticked

• #5620
Now that is weird. Is this a new keyboard and mouse that you're using?
-
• #5621
No. Not at all.... ☹️
-
• #5622
Ah, there's also a chance that something needs to be set in the bios but hopefully somebody more knowledgeable than me can help with that.
-
• #5623
I also have a Bluetooth mouse and that also doesn’t work.

*UEFI
Need to know what brand of mobo to know where the setting is, some can have a security against wake on settings.
-
• #5625
Isn't there a risk that that setting can cause a boot problem?
I was thinking more about a specific wake setting. Most poos have a power management section.
Poos=bios
Oh you mean your Ap rather than the PC
