• PS: @TLC organisers: Can I suggest a couple of possible hills for you to adapt the route for coming years? I've got one or two in mind, near each other, that would work well into a route between Blackheath and Canonbie...

• An amazing day out, beautifully planned & signed, great atmosphere the whole way round - coming round that bend onto the steep part of Canonbie just made me laugh a little and throw some proper respect to the fixed / singlespeed contingent up ahead. Chapeau! If my gears hadn't been skipping I'd have made made it #probblynot

• Well, that was just about as good as a Sunday gets. I started very late, around 11, I think, pootled along, spent a lot of time at LMNH, eventually got back to Gipsy Hill Tavern at around 4 to the shock that Dropout might have ANOTHER BIKE soon, and not only that, but one that actually has dropouts instead of track ends. We just need to arrange a few more raffles so he can win the other bits he needs.

Other than forum spots, I saw someone coming towards me riding a mountain bike along with a chain lock slung around the top tube and down tube. The actual lock dangled down and got stuck between his front wheel and the down tube several times while I watched him (not long). This was on a secteur pavé. He very nearly crashed there and then, but the only measure he took was swearing loudly every time it happened. I'm always too slow to say something as I watch with great interest what will happen next.

Good to meet biarittz, dogpants, Rossi75, salmonchild, and monkey, and seeing lots of usual suspects!

Also an unrelated spot of Multi Grooves in Queen Elizabeth Street, with a trainee.

Many thanks to the organisers, I'm glad I finally got to do it.

• I prolly shouldn't be here as I'm neither fw or ss but hey-ho

We get 'em all eventually, Jurek ... just wait, you'll never post on YACF again. :)

• no walking this year*! go me!

• as last year, admired canonbie from both ends but did not attempt.

I walked down Canonbie Road, as that descent is way too steep for me.

Also loved that both Maze Hill and Pepys Rd had an icecream van positioned at the top...

I managed to miss both of those!

• Shame to miss so many of you, but massive thanks to hoefla for the continual guidance in the face of our perpetual ignorance of maps. They're beyond me. Glad Oliver spotted Festus too, and a special mention goes to the man like braker for his holler from his car as we'd immediately left LMNH. No skid, but a wave in exchange of your hazard-light acknowledgement.

Good times, good riding and damn good fun.

• And nice to meet you Olly and William.

• a day full of wonderful memories.. so many forum people, and the weather did not disappoint.. probably the best ride ever for london.. full of win, TLC and brixton cycles we salute you

Wow, you can really see my sunburn coming through on that picture. It is well fierce this morning. Didn't think to put lotion on because, well, it was basically still March, weren't it?

Also how did so many people manage to skip the hills?! An invisible side road on Canonbie? It's like Platform 9 3/4s all over again.

• The strava segments had a busy day yesterday.

Ludwig was flying up the hills!

• lovely lovely day out there yesterday.

started early and the only real spot was simon, onelesscardigan, at the beginning.
saw mr digger outside the pub but i was sheparding my very hungover mate so we needed to get rolling.

gutted not to catch any more faces but we were done before midday and after a quick pint of guinness it was off to the kite festival.

well done on the raffle john.

great route again and love all of it but am thinking more hills needed.
i reckon fox hill needs to be worked in there!

• ....

Good call. Along with Wells Park Road, conveniently bringing you up to The Dulwich Wood House - or, equally the alley-way opposite, the one which leads up to the pub from Sydenham Hill station.

• @ Jurek. Wot you doing 'ere? Get back over to CC! :-).

• @ Jurek. Wot you doing 'ere?

Spreadin' the lurrrve

• Great day out, big thanks to all involved

• A brilliant day...many thanks to the organisers for putting on such a great event. I'm a Londoner born and bread, ride here every day and they STILL managed to show me some great bits I didn't know!

Catydid loving Canonbie!:

• +1 on Fox Hill! It has a road off it called Reynard Drive too. I could have hit up a few more hills personally, but when you look at the range of cyclists who take part (*Kids *in Rapha. Kids!) I don't think it's a bad thing they made it a bit less hilly this year.

What can I say that's not already been said? Great day (again), lovely weather (again), lovely people (again), good to meet some new people, good riding and John won that frame! Only sad I didn't get to see/talk to so many people who were clearly there.

Had great fun, weather was glorious. Nice to ride with the south easts crew. Laner, cupcakes, fox, and fussballclub.

It was good rolling with you too corny. I also enjoyed the guided tour of your hood :)

I prolly shouldn't be here as I'm neither fw or ss but hey-ho

I wouldn't worry about that Jurek. Lots of the forum did this on gears! Of the group I was riding in (see above) only Laner and I were fixed (not that I'm complaining, it meant I had to work a bit harder).

#stillbeatthemtothetopofeliotbankthough ;)

On the subject of working a bit harder, I hit a new 66" personal best of 186rpm (36.7mph) coming down Blackheath Hill, which is the fastest I've ever managed not on a Rollapaluza rig, so I was pretty chuffed with that too!

Heh. I hit 30mph before thinking "perhaps 'spin-to-win-lulz' was an error of judgement". V scary.

• Apparently my top speed was 38.3mph :p

• Residual jetlag enforced a stealth lie-in for me yesterday morning so I turned up super late (2pm!) and rode the whole route on my tod.

Was still brilliant fun though. Also, thanks very much for the peeps who cheered me as I rode back down Canonbie Road (ID - I was wearing a green bianchi top and riding a sky blue Kona Honky Tonk). It was much appreciated, although, knackered as I was, all I could manage by response was a perfunctory thanks.

I'm still new here and don't know many folks but it'd be great to ride with some forum peeps on the next outing.

• Rastafari Greetings to each and every one....,
Well what a lovey ride that was.
Got there at 8.15 or so, chats with the organisers and BC staff then out on the open road. Gentle pootle in to town,
'Allez Allez' shouts to fellow riders etc.
I met Ryan of Oak Cycles fame at LMNH and we rolled together for the rest of the ride.
Back to the Gipsy Hill Tavern for post ride glory.
Thanks to the Almighty for getting me round and for providing such beautiful weather.
Thanks to The Organisers, Brixton Cycles and everyone who provided such great prizes for the raffle.
45 miles in the bag and some lovely memories of a great day in the saddle.
Peace and Love to one and all,
Tim
