  • Was still brilliant fun though. Also, thanks very much for the peeps who cheered me as I rode back down Canonbie Road (ID - I was wearing a green bianchi top and riding a sky blue Kona Honky Tonk). It was much appreciated, although, knackered as I was, all I could manage by response was a perfunctory thanks.

hey that was me, TheorySwine and Yas! you went past us at the bottom while we were deciding to go around Honor Oak Rd, and then on the other side we were admiring the descent when we saw you coming down. well done, it hardly took you any longer than us going around!

  • Cheers! Yeah, that descent is fierce - almost more worrying than the climb when you're coming down it.

Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet properly in the near future at a ride or some drinks things.

  • Doctor Cake and I had a lovely day out - perfect weather, awesome route, brilliant coffee + cake as usual at LMNH... and the beer and burgers back at Gipsy Hill went down a treat.

Much bunnyhopping of cobbles and speed humps bought a huge smile to my face. Really looking forward to seeing the photos.

  • racing YAL for the final climb of the day back to the tavern.. what a strong finish ;-)

i'm still beaming from yesterday.. sorry i had to split at 5.10pm i had two hungry teenagers back home so it was a 50min zipfast spin back norfside whilst texting instructions at every set of lights for making pasta, feta, sundried toms and olives as i collected ice cream...

  • I just instructed my three hungry teenagers to make their way to the pub, which they did, arriving while I was out at the front nattering to someone. We then sat in the sun in front of the giant Lion of Flanders, eating, drinking, chatting etc. Turned out that two of my daughter's school friends were helping out with clearing glasses etc. Top day. My head's gone a bit red - should have worn one of my many hats. Nice to meet the Schickster again, likewise Dammit, Laner, Olly, RaphaJerzy, Digger and no doubt others I've forgotten.

  • A brilliant day...many thanks to the organisers for putting on such a great event. I'm a Londoner born and bread, ride here every day and they STILL managed to show me some great bits I didn't know!

Ah ha! was just about to try and find out your identity - was amazed at your Canobie skillz! Made it look effortless and like you barely broke a sweat! Chap-eau indeed!

As ever, and as everyone else did, had a awesome time - love the route, the planning, the atmosphere of the whole day. One of my favourite bicycle days of the year - up there with Good Friday at the velodrome. Awesome work all those involved and SO glad dropout won that sweet, sweet prize!

  • Just to echo all of what has been said above. Great riding with people, great bumping into people along the way and great seeing people in the pub at the end. Lovely day all round!

  • Apparently my top speed was 38.3mph :p

    Useless without gear inches ;)

Anyway, personal best (i.e. only racing myself)!

  • Such a good day, big thanks go out to Dave and tricky, BC, Gypsy Hill Hotel, the excellent signers, and everyone involved.
I love this ride and was really scared that I might miss it due to having a bit of a cold, thanks for looking after me guys and esp Rossi75 for talking me up the hills as I cramped...

It was great that you could make it Dig, wouldn't have been the same without you - shame you didn't win one of the bigger prizes but hey, you said you needed some socks;)

And there was no more deserving winner than Dropout (it was great to meet you) - that frame couldn't have gone to a better home, right size and everything! In terms of suggestions for the route next year - bring them on, we're always open for ways to tweak TLC. Things ran smoother for us this year thanks to the work of volunteers (of which pootsmanuva was one - still owe you:)). I also forgot to give a shout out to the LFGSS riders as the people on this forum are really important to TLC and have been there in numbers from the start two years ago. Hats off to the lot of you! Back later in the week with a charidee fundrasing total.

    Dave

  • loved it my limited vocabulary cannot do my day and ride justice, so much fun so many nice people. A very big thank you to all

  • Mahooosive shout to the organisers, to Lincoln ( amma comin for my t-shirt!!!) Dropout ( enjoy the new frame) Al,Dan,Nick, Holly, chris, hamish and any one else that it was such a pleasure to both meet and ride with all day ( I owe you a beer Al)., Enjoy Flanders and hope to see you all agian for rides and beers
Was a truly excellent day all round......WOOP!

  • You should come to the Guinness Ride munky if you like bikes and beer!

  • munky really pleased you enjoyed the day, hopefully see you on the guiness ride next week.. continue where we leffe off, don't forget your drinking legs ;-)

  • When and where does it start? I am in like Flynn......

  • Thanks to the organisers for a great day out, and the fellow forum members who adopted me halfway round when I was starting to get proper lost in the depths of Whitechapel. Didn't think for a minute I'd spend parts of my afternoon eating ice-cream in a city farm, or having to walk DOWN a road because it was too steep.

    mmm Guinness

  • several pints of guinness after TLC that's what i call recovery drinks, ha
as i sped home i heard a loud 'do a skid' from the direction of the prince regent..

i gave them the proper finger as i don't skid on sundays :P

  • We get 'em all eventually, Jurek ... just wait, you'll never post on YACF again. :)

I'm starting to feel less bad about this as time passes..... or it could be because I have, in the last half hour, negotiated the acquisition of a Pompino...

  • Ha. :)

  • a few from the day - lots of great views seem to be backgrounded by canary wharf...
