^^ There definitely are downsides to tunnels, but that 3km 6% descent must be an extreme situation! I've done quite some 1-2km tunnels, some with slight up or down slope, and yes it can be scary and the air isn't as great as you'd like it to be. But hey, I'd live in a tunnel for a week to be able to ride Norwegian roads!
^ I get that too sometimes (which makes it even more unexplainable), no idea why that happens.
We actually mapped this route as that tunnel wasnt one of the long ones we have around here, and riding Down it meant we'd be out pretty quickly.
But Yeah. No real ground to moan.

I remember the spiral tunnels. Very impressive from an engineering perspective but yes, terrifying for a cyclist I'm sure. We were travelling from Oslo to Floro, great journey.

I've mapped a route from my house that heads around an amazing Coastal road, via some lovely small villages, then turns into a valley containing the stunning Trollstigen Climb. It then slowly descends through a pictuesique valley full of fruit plantations, before hitting the coast on the other side. A little more Coastal road then a Ferry across the fjord to Stranda. Where the road heads sharply upwards to the Stranda mountain top ski resort. Then its Down the other side and a short Ferry to within 20km of home.
....no one wants to come because of the 2 busy and long tunnels :(. We are so spoilt.

Really need to hit Trollstigen. My strava time on that Climb is shocking.

Reads a magical route. How can it not weight up to 2 tunnels? One day I will join you for this ride! (and some of that lamb with cabbage)

The argument is that you can drive to either end of the Trollstigen valley, and ride the best bit.
But time spent loading bikes into the car, driving, unloading bikes, getting changed, faffing With bikes, etc. is not time spent riding!

I got a suffer score of 324 for today's ride. Pretty happy with that.

You're dong some pretty serious off-roading, according to that route. It looks like your trying to smash straight up the waterfall.

All of the women in my club are grumpy cos they lost their QOMs after the second stage.

No, that's just an excuse.

Its training for my bid to make Nibbedobbelen a true triathlon. I'm Learning to swim uphills like a salmon (although I Draw the line at giving birth and dying at the top).
Trollstigen does this on loads of mapping sites. The switchbacks are so Sharp, that the roads virtually overlap.

I've just noticed something really lame.
I got KOM on a bridleway stretch a while ago, then on the last few rides I've done on that route, the segment didn't pick up. I thought maybe it's just the lat/lon records were a bit out from my garmin, which has happened before. Then I just went to create a segment on the same stretch with my new data, and there's no matching segment. So basically, the guy who created the segment lost his KOM to me, so he deleted the segment. What a douche. Anyway, I own it now, and I am KOM.

I am become KOM destroyer of egos.

• #3019
Tis upsetting though.
I created a segment of my commute. Adds a bit of spice. Especially the fixed Climb on the way home. I had Kom for ages untill Strava got around to up dating. At which point I suddenly dropped to 6th out of 35.

Just nailed 10th on the local strava TT. Its a 15km out'n'back that I ride at lot. Not bad for an old man :)

I think Strava is great, use it on all of my training rides to track my progress
-

I personally don't care much for all the social stuff going on there, but I do very much appreciate how clear workouts and progress can be tracked.

So I overtook someone this evening on a hill and they have added me on strava, is that weird and stalkery, or is it just me?

Were you out of the saddle pushing your bottocks explicitly from one side to the other?
