Looks good, cheers - similar to other routes I've done before that haven't gone out that far, so it'd reduce the changes of getting massively lost while still close to london.
I've never actually used the Pilgrim's Way before - is it signposted? Or is it like a proper road, only singletrack?
Kent County Council have created a signed Pilgrims Way cycle route;

I'm going to ride (most of) it sometime in the next couple of weeks, will report back.

Thanks for the broken links Emyr. I'm aware longer segments exist.
Lots useful ones I ride are sub 10min things.

I'm 47th on the first one, my time is nearly double that of the chap in 1st.
Second one I am 57th out of 123, with a time that is 25% greater than the leader.
Maybe I should just give up and start playing snooker instead?

They don't seem broken to me, now on a different computer from when I posted...

Not wanting to undermine 6pt, but it might be worth accepting that you are unlikely to ever ace a climb - or any other segment - in another country, where locals can ride it day-in day-out
-
• #2986
not with that attitude, anyway.
rosie and I cleared up on KOMs on our trek through the backwaters of Germany.
(because there were no other strava users for hundreds of miles, and a lot of the climbs that did have other people on the scoreboard were likely less determined touring cyclists carrying similar load to ourselves)

Any truth in the (scurrilous) rumour that you returned to some of them later without bags to attempt to put the KoM 'on the shelf' as it were?

Maybe you shouldn't stop to take pics of your bike? The finish line is after that view point we stopped at.

This is great, thanks - I've realised that I've made a bit of a SNAFU with the times and that I won't actually be going from London to Canterbury as there's no danger I'm going to get up early enough to ride 80+ miles to make it to a wedding at 12pm. So I'll be doing Canterbury to London after the wedding instead, hem hem. Please do report back - your request about what it's like in the routes database thread about it didn't garner much interest, unfortunately.

Been up there years ago (not on a bike) stunning view of the Geiranger fjord. Would love to cycle around Norway, they've got the dosh to keep the roads all nice, not like the pock-marked shit you get around here.

Surprise we setup KOMs on every single road in London.

Yes and no.
The offical statistic puts us behind Lativia or something. In European table for road quality.
But this is more related to ease of car travel. So from a cycling veiwpoint they're awesome. The one issue is the tunnels, and the neglect that occurs to the old road once a tunnel replaces it as a main route. Trying to plot a 200+km route without having to ride through long tunnels is near impossible.
1st world problems.....

• #2994
1st world indeed, I'm struggling to decide whether I should do a 300km Audax on sat or a 100 mile MTB route. Considering I'm doing Tour Divide next year, MTB is the natural choice, but then, long days in the saddle is also great training.
Decisions decisions.

Do both
^^ Tunnels arent too bad imo.
-
• #2996
Audax on Saturday, MTB ride on Sunday.
-
• #2997
You have a point Andy! Considering I'll need to be doing in the region of 120 miles per day for at least 23 days....

It means fitting lights; even on a glorious day, it will be cold and wet; and the air is near unbreathable. But mainly I dislike danger of it. Cars speed madly through the long tunnels (shite, I do this myself). This pic is the inside of the 3km, 6% descent to Hellesylte. Probably not the best time to be taking pics to be fair.

Why does my fecking phone do that rotation thing. Grrrr.

^^ There definitely are downsides to tunnels, but that 3km 6% descent must be an extreme situation! I've done quite some 1-2km tunnels, some with slight up or down slope, and yes it can be scary and the air isn't as great as you'd like it to be. But hey, I'd live in a tunnel for a week to be able to ride Norwegian roads!
^ I get that too sometimes (which makes it even more unexplainable), no idea why that happens.
