  • All you need now is a pressurised egg and you will boss the cross league.

  • will powdered egg do for those on a budget?

  • A lot of research currently into gluten and the possibility of it doing more damage than good, a gluten free diet may be good for some people just in general. Although obviously if you have a caeliac disease cutting the gluten was an obvious smart move.
I think Wiggins is doing well and it'd be great if we won Le Tour. Sky seem to be most on form compared to other teams which will obviously help him out

  • It seems that many of our American cousins are convinced that Sky are dodgy. Read through the Clinic thread on Sky and had a look on twitter. Hmmm.

  • It strikes me that the level of professionalism in cycling, even at pro tour level, isn't massively high. Doping aside, I think you probably can rise head and shoulders above a lot of teams if you are professionally organised and I think that is what we are seeing with Sky this year.

This. Talking of doping is idiotic in my opinion, but I suppose predictable, given cycling's history. This is what Brailsford says:

"If it came out of the blue people would be entitled to raise their eyebrows but it's not new, they should look at our record on the track where we went from nothing to dominate an Olympic Games. We've taken the same approach, the same methodology and we are seeing improvements."

Considering Bradley has had a fourth place in the Tour, and won this race last year there should be no doubt over him. As for the rest of the team in the Dauphine, Shy basically unleashed pratically their first choice roster. Froome was second in the Vuelta, Porte won the Tour of Algarve and both represent potential GC winners in Grand Tours in the future, and Micheal Rogers is an ex-World Champion time trialist. It was a show of strength that was unmatched by the other teams and it magnified the performance in contrast. Everyone will bring their A game to the tour and Sky won't be able to boss it like they did this race.

Fucking shame success in cycling will always bring doubts these days

  • I can't believe Jonathan Vaughters takes the time to argue with some of the mentalists in The Clinic, but I don't know why Sky are putting out these PR puff stories about Wiggin's coaching and Cav's diet it's just fuel for the trolls.

  • Its a genuinely depressing read, that thread. As far as I can work out you need to have been consistently brilliant from the moment you turn pro to win anything now and be above suspicion. Despite the fact Sky fielded an overpowered team and still climbed slower than a Grand Tour field would have done they are seemingly guilty simply by winning and placing other team members high up the GC

hilarious all the guys calling Sky 'UK Postal' when most Americans have only just come around to the fact that Lance was dirty-and even then there is a hell of a lot who haven't and won't. Shame they couldn't get their own house in order before conveniently using USPS's example to smear other teams...

Wiggins beating an off the boil Cancellara and Martin in a Dauphine ITT is hardly world shattering news. Having some columbian tow-boats pacing him up the climbs on a 1 week course isn't either... I just find the examples and the timing used to corroborate doping bizarre. Hailing Wiggo's pre 2008 palmares as proof of doping is just stupid.

Man. I don't even like Wiggins or Sky but that thread makes me really despair for some of the cunts out there that revel in this shit. Tolerate 7 TDF victories from a bonafide fuckend riding proven dopers off his wheel with the help of some total ringers on board, then wait till he retires before suddenly wising up, why don't you all?

  • Cancellara wasn't at the Dauphine.

  • Nor were either of Sky's Colombian riders.

  • Cancellara wasn't at the Dauphine.

No-had this comment in mind when I wrote that.

  • Conversely RSNT have just retired Chris Horner from their GT squads and the US peeps are going mental because his performances are like totally credible and shit.

As a bonus it looks like he had no idea either as of yesterday either.

  • love the way Sky is working as a team, and Wiggo looks to be ahead of all contenders in all the important disciplines.

any thoughts on Sagan's diet? is he going to be in the TdF?

  • French TV commentators on todays TDS stage pon Youtube seemed to be calling him "Le Cannibale" unless I'm a dufus.

  • I take back what I said about Sagan being second rate. He's on fire at the moment. It would be nice to see some epic sprint duels in the TdF this year, and maybe Sagan is the lad for the job.

  • he's been on fire for a stern while now

journalists... Dutch media went so far as to refer to a certain 'Keldermerckx' after the Dauphiné TT.

  • Apparently Jens Voight tweeted he thought Wiggins has peaked too soon, but by the looks of his preparation he's never been far off his peak throughout the year. Given the money that Sky have, the talent they have signed, and the meticulous and contrasting approach to preparation, they should be successful.

So far I have seen questions over Boonen and Sagan, due to their form, Sky of course, Gilbert because of his poor form (so he was doping last season) and de Gendt, after his ride up the Stelvio. Constant figure pointing at anyone who shows any form basically

  • Sky were furiously tweeting pics of the team warming up on turbos before the stage today due to instant climb from the start.

Now not just for TT's? and proper warm downs just seem sensible but no-one else seems to be doing them except Sky either.

Rubbish. No one else is posting them online other than Sky.

Good and relevant piece in the Telegraph, except the nudge-nudge-winking is already going on. I just want to see an Englishman win the Tour, and I'm certain if he does he'll be doing it clean

  • nice article cheers

  • Admittedly I don't read the French press, but the implication that they have it in for Wiggins because he is British seems daft.

Love the fact they used a pic of Wiggo in Garmin kit ;)

Agreed, there's a definite jingoistic slant to the article, but there's truth to the fact that Sky's success is bringing whispers already, albeit not necessarily from the French press. However if his prediction comes true...

Twitter reckons Schleck the younger is out of this years TDF.

  • Broken vertebra apparently.
