I was talking about the scales.....

That would require a sort of "Yo dawg" situation that I am unprepared for.

Upside down on a glass table, with you lying underneath the table.

Wouldn't work, it would not be weighing the scale top (glass bit). Shit logic toby.d

Thanks for that info.

Do those brakes have any special qualities apart from being ugly?
-
• #135
I've got brake envy now.
Did you give in and order the Extralite Ultrastar?
-
• #136
I think they look cool. Brutal, and industrial.
The weight is obviously the main reason they exist, but imo they still look good. Plus lets face it there are very few brakes around now that actually look good.

They are beautifully made, if that counts for anything, and the thinking behind the design is really impressive. They are also quite light.

No- I don't like the way it focuses stress inside the steerer.
I think I'll cut down the alloy tube (that everyone hates) to match the clamping area of the stem and bond that in- it resolves all the forces in that area, and means I can fit it and forget it. Over engineered maybe, but peace of mind, and light enough.

Dammit have you ridden them yet?
-
• #139
I've not finished setting them up to be honest, just working out correct cable lengths and so on- which are longer than with conventional calipers, so I need a new cable for the front as my existing one is cut too short.

Fair play, those are ugly. My DA 7900 calipers are nice, what went wrong Shimano? I do quite like the Campag skeletons though

i quite like the planet x lightweight ones

^^ Function over form, I guess.
Everyone who's used them raves about the DA's.
I like these:
...but there are some funny egg-like aero TT ones around that look like pure sex. At the end of the day tho, you want brakes to slow you down, not to pose.

those russel hobbs are easily the most famous scales on LFGSS
I wonder how much they weigh?

2nd that .. I'm not the biggest fan of the brakes looks, but I can not deny they do look beautifully made and for me have an appeal on that level. Also I understand, if users reports are to be believed, then the performance is up there with the best. I wait to hear your experience ..

Claimed weight 645 grams.

6.69 as pictured, 6.65 if I had taken the toe strap off that's holding the front wheel straight.

We had this at work, the weight remind me of you;

It does look a million rupees though doesn't it?
FFS Ed, take the reflectors off, put some pedals on and stick it in the big ring.
