  • Ha. Brilliant

  • Whos running gears with a derailleur? Any problems? What are you doing for protection?

  • Felix does.

  • And Boagey?

  • Josh Cohen?

  • Paging all of the above

  • Whos running gears with a derailleur? Any problems? What are you doing for protection?

    No problems, no protection

  • Cool

  • I did fall on it a few times but it survived. Its just as bad as having a tensioner attached there.
If you have a replaceable dropout you may bed them in a heavy hit but they're heap enough to replace.

  • Derailieurs are designed to bend inwards, tensioner arms tend to only move about an axis parallel with the axle, so he hanger would bend instead.

  • Anyone got a v brake mounting plate I can buy this week? Sick of not being able to stop. 2 would be even better.

  • John, no problems apart from a severe lack of maintenance, bent hanger and knackered gear cables. Thought I'd try this out whenever I get round to fixing my bike, fits between axle and hanger and gives some protection. Short cage steel or alloy mechs (old roadie type) works well with a thumbie.

  • Bill I have a v plate and jubilee clips

  • Thanks fellas.

  • Do Some body have a head set pressing tool ..can I borrow

  • Anyone got a load of tools? I need to build up my new bike but have limited resources. I will need to remove a freewheel and an external bb, as well as cutting down the steerer on my fork.

    I will bring beer.

  • If you haven't fixed it by Thursday, there's a 1pm-9pm drop in session at London Bike Kitchen (N1 5QA). I only know them through Twitter, so hopefully locals will know of something similar that suits your location/urgency better.

  • I have a freewheel tool, external bb tool, hacksaw, vise and a (budget) repair stand.

When do you want to build it?

  • whats happening to your old bike?

  • Hey Em, BC will take the freewheel off you and lend you the BB tool. Bring them some beer just in case.

  • What fork are you gonna use on the Dolan Em? Would be a great back up polo bike the dolan track, i'm so paranoid about my oak after my MKE was stolen!

  • Also, if you can go see Mike @ Push Cycles. He was so helpful with getting my oak ready for the LO. Top bloke too.

  • Emmet, If you're near SE then you're welcome at mine

  • There is also 56a which is just beside Elephant & Castle roundabout. With external BBs you are recommended to face the BB shell too. Differing opinion on whether this is needed.
