Hi, I'm a new member so I hope it's okay to jump right in to this thread. You might remember my brother and myself Tom. We travelled back on the flight with you, and regaled you with our tales of woe after being humbled by L'Eroica.
It looks like we have been lucky enough to register in time, so maybe we'll see you there again this year.
Gary.

Not doing it this year but for any of you first timers your gonna luv it !!
Did 135km in the heat, rode out with no extra warm clothing for the chilly dark start, exhausted by halfway, shrivelled up like a prune through lack of water, made use of every weedy tree for shade during the last 20km but had the ride and weekend of my life !!!
My advice is book the best hotel, campsite or back seat in car that you can afford, take in all the local events surrounding the event (the organised meal night before ride, full of singing Italians and ex pro hero's is fab), say hello to everybody and smile at every italian girl you can, buy a wolly retro jersey which you'll probably be too hot in but you'll treasure forever, eat and drink everything at the foodstops (delicious) and above enjoy as much Chianti as possible at the end of the ride !!
Here is my video from last year.
play with sound up !!

Hello again Snapper met you and Mr Spintoofast at Spaltenna last year, shame your not heading over again - oh well 2013 eh? The video brought back some great memories. Can't wait to get back out to Tuscany, watching Cancellara on the Bianchi today was pretty humbling / inspiring.

As there are 24 of us on here signed up already, who, subject to a poll/decision making etc, would be up for a custom LFGSS merino jersey?
I have been speaking to oregonCyclewear.com in the states and if we can order 15 jerseys between us, we can get a short sleeved merino with 2 lines of lettering for $66 dollars each....... Seems really good value for 100% merino.
Is this too cheesy?
Have a look and discuss..... -
• #156
Hi
Yes maybe 2013, perhap with family ?
the LFGSS Merino shirt sounds like a good idea, I'd buy one and I'm not even going.
It would be cool to have the word 'London' in full lettering as there were no london's last year, (lots of New york's, Paris, Milan etc). You'd have to come up with a distinctive colour, Bianchi have already sewn up the light blue !
Neil
PS You can never have enough cheese ! -

can do stedlocks, although for the last 2 years i've worn woolistic merino jerseys,
i'll speak to alex the owner about a price - he's a lovely american chap living in switzerland and he'll be there filming again this year no doubt - last year i wore a heineken jersey along with another 25 guys from all over the world as part of his 'team'

here in NL there ain't many hills to train on,
methinks a few missions down to Belgie will help
is triple speed really better for this event? -
• #160
Triple is possible, or a TA cyclotouriste with 50 & 34 chainrings... it mostly depends on your training/condition. 39 x 28 should get you to the top of most hills. Here's some suggestions to prepare yourself:
Around Valkenburg you'll find plenty of nasty short climbs on a ride of just 100-110km:

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/123099539And if you try this one in the Belgian Ardennes you'll know for sure, it's comparable to L'Eroica's 205km, I'll be doing something like this around mid september:

yes stedlocks, an lfgss merino jersey would be very nice!
-
• #164
I'm on my phone at the minute, but if we can get at least 15 people interested, we can set up a poll for designs/wording etc..... I'll still probably get one for myself whatever though :0)
Who's interested then? -
• #165
I'm interested in a merino jersey! They look great on the website...

Quick question; has anyone heard from the organisers regarding thier place? I live in Italy, so I am not really that worried that I didn't recieve a confirmation, but I would like to know if anyone else has. Money's paid, so I am assuming I am in...
