How strict were they with searches for food and drink amounts?

Everything goes through a scanner airport-stylee and you get frisked. Didn't see anyone being pulled out for excessive sandwich hoarding but you won't be able to sneak anything in.

might be time to play the "Oh I need this drink and food for my diabetes" lie…

So what can you bring in? A pack lunch but only a small amount of water? no booze?

It will be awful ;) Sell me their ticket for the price of childcare: Win/win.

Seriously though, I think it would be OK (depending on your patience, and the nature of the child), but there's not a lot to keep a little one interested once your inside let alone getting in and out.

We took a plastic bottle of whiskey in fine. It's a test event so all the security staff are practising. The scanner operators were quite slow, and the frisks were very thorough, but they weren't actually looking for anything, just practising.

Taking a toddler will be fine, there were quite a few last night. Lots of space to run around, explore, and the staff inside didn't really seem to mind people going for a wander.

There were a fair few grumpy and tired kids on the trek back out again though.

There were quite a few kids there last night. The ones near me spent most of the night playing iphone games. (Obv a bit older than toddler though).

Ditto - not much else going on to keep a toddler entertained.

I'd imagine we'll see those two head to head at the Worlds and the Olympics. Should be good, as both quartets are very, very fast.

Yep.. and although I want Oz to win, I do love being in the crowd when GB are being cheered on.
