  • CX feels more like this... ^v^v^v^v^v____^v^v^v^v^v^v^v_^v^v^v^v^v^v^v_^v^v^v^v^v^v^v_^v^v^v^v^v^v^v_^v^v^v^v^v^v^v_^v^v^v^v^v^v^v____^v^v

  • That's 2012 and bikes folks^

  • 2012 Peugeot SS?

  • Least offensive "vintage" otp have seen for a while, not keen on the saddle though.... shirly should be a turbo?

nit picking aesthetics - mismatched straps and too much stem/seatpost showing.

and tan walls would be nice.

  • Agreed, If they had done all the black parts in silver, some box rims instead of those machined veeps and one of those black suede 1980 turbo reissues, it would be a pretty awesome OTP.
Frameset alone could make for a cool build if it's cheap.

  • so we like the f&f, the bars, then chainset...

... still better than most companies are managing! Would be such a classy bike with all silver, once again I'm left wondering what qualifies these designers....

90% of the time I find machined side walls on black rims pretty fugly as well, exceptions being fancy road wheelsets and the like.

  • Its actually nice that. Maybe my asthetic tastes are uncomplex, but black chainset, or silver every else please.

  • It's like they basically made a new version of the Pug conversions everyone has ridden at some point.

The black brakes, headset and seatpost stick out a mile though. Fix that, and the wheels, and it would look great.

  • 2012 Scissor...

    more HERE

  • Can't see how a UCI change would had led to investment from the large bike companies. The majority of riders of OTP cyclocross bikes are not racing in UCI events and those that do don't number that many do they? Not in overall bike sales terms.

I agree. The vast majority of cyclocross bikes that are sold are not raced and are mainly used for commuting where disc brakes, and their reliable braking in all weathers, would be beneficial.

    This^

Exactly why I will be upgrading. Weirdly, I'd be more inclined to race on rim brakes, then commute. I'd give the race'd bike so much more TLC before a race, than my commuter ever sees.

feels guilty, goes downstairs to cuddle commuter CX bike

  • True, however for commuting the thought process might be that cable discs are "good enough", now that discs can be used in top level racing, the first company to bring out "true hydraulic" drop bar brakes is going to get a big marketing push for free.

There will be a certain amount of prestige also.

Do you reckon that Shimano would have launched Di2 if it was illegal in UCI sanctioned races?

  • Bargain...

  • If the UCI allow discs in sanctioned road events then you'll see some proper moves from the big 3 to make a hydraulic drop bar brake.

The cross market isn't worth the R&D

  • The commuter market is though, and that drives a lot of the cross market.

  • Pretty sure Sram are on the case

  • I saw a link on YACF to a cable to Hydro converter that used Hope reservoirs, anyone ever heard anything about them?

  • When are we going to see these on the commute..

  • ^he's not gonna make that!

Commuters are fine on cable operated discs
