True, however for commuting the thought process might be that cable discs are "good enough", now that discs can be used in top level racing, the first company to bring out "true hydraulic" drop bar brakes is going to get a big marketing push for free.
There will be a certain amount of prestige also.
Do you reckon that Shimano would have launched Di2 if it was illegal in UCI sanctioned races?
I'd second most of that.
Surely most of this is just about marketing. Hydro-disc brakes on drop bars are just another ptoduct. Uci sanctioning is just a way of publicising the fact and stoking demand.
Just to be clear, I'm not saying they won't be better, but like tappered forks and OS seatposts I can't help but feel a lot of it is geared towards increasing obsilecense and selling more.

It's just a work around, they'll be obsolete the second a fully integrated set appears
Of course, but how long before the integrated stuff arrives?
How much is that converter do you know?

It's a proto.
Will probably be <£100 though, I wouldn't bother though as running the cable to the back brake will be messy as fook

Shimano bought the UCI's compliance for a fraction of the R&D cost of Di2. In any sensible world, Di2 would be banned in what is ostensibly a human powered contest.

Radios and team cars handing up food/bottles/clothing should be banned long before Di2. Lazy, cheating pros spits

My current cable is fully sheathed all the way to the back brake- it's been designed with hydraulic hoses in mind, so has the correct brackets and so forth.

How have I not seen this before. Hahaha
When did the Kaffenback get updated?
Disc tabs, swap-outs, rack'n'guard mounts....seems super practical.Aye
Not long ago I think, 'bout a month ago? the Kaffenback is indeed looking better spec wise nowaday.
I was waiting for the new Kaffenback and will probably be my next build. Got to get rid of the hybrid, a frame and some bits in the mean time.
Always has been, you just don't see many of them around.
I want black S500s - Where can I get them then?

2012 Peugeot SS?
Where did you find it? Any more info available?
-
• #436
I'm assuming that was at Eurobike. They seemed to get the details more "LFGSS-approved" with the road version

No, just some piece of OEM crap

That's a goddamn shame.
I have one 1.1/8" black (110mm) and sold a silver 1" version (130mm). They are heavy, but they are beautiful.

Liking the Peugeot a lots.
Add this and you'll be fine;
(I had one, you do not need to put a spacer on the top);

That a really tall one, that Surly?
But yeah, the stem looks alright!
-
• #443
That's a pretty handy looking Surly. Is that another perfectly good bike you now no longer own Ed?
Peugeot is a bit...
...for my tastes.
-
• #444
Oh it's not mine, picture illustrate the stem, which doesn't look half bad if someone wanted to make a 'classic' looking bike with ahead stem.
I have a crosscheck which I think might be a bit too big for me...

But they're the best surprise for 2012, by far.

surprise
Not so surprising, more a natural progression (regression?) from the 2010/2011 'Collector Edition' bikes

You have to see them in the flesh... The 2010/2011 editions were terrible.
