  • Anybody who fancies joining us for London to Dover tomorrow we are meeting at the Gypsy Moth in Greenwich for a 7.30am start.

I might even wear my bib shorts that don't have holes on the seat if you're lucky...

  • Garmin friendly version of the route that also shows start point here.

Lots of rolling hills. Only two "big" climbs I think. Should be a real blast. People tell me this is a beautiful route.

  • I hope they made it OK. Great work guys!

  • Day 1 is often the toughest. I've learned that from personal experience and from tales from experienced tourers. They'll be knackered tonight but they will have found their legs for tomorrow and will also be hitting this stage with the luxury of some nice deep sleep.

  • Just seen a positive update on Facebook from about 8pm where they said they had 30mph to go and had kicked chinnor hills arse.

Great stuff guys...you're not exactly riding climbing machines with all of that luggage! Props to Fade for riding fixed today too.

  • After the 3rd days, they'll find their legs and able to carry on better, it's all about finding your legs (in Dan's case, what left of his ankle).

    Keep it up guys!

  • Really great day riding with you guys. Managed to mak it up chinnor hill and swains, which was a bit of a surprise to be honest. absolute pleasure to ride with you guys, and hopefully i'll get to see you all when you're back. good luck with the rest of the ride!

  • .

  • Bwah, I've woken up with a swollen knee. I swear that my body started crumbling from the moment I turned 30.

  • was awesome to see them arrive at the Flask, heros all. wise words Dan and top work yourself, see you in a bit. Marcus - well done on a personal furthest and sounds like you were a good man to have along.

gonna give them the benefit of my prizewinning* legs for a stint this morning.

*tongue firmly in cheek, that was a shock to me!

  • They were all riding like monsters yesterday. In a bit Si

  • Well they're off 1h45m later than scheduled and loaded with the rocket fuel that is a mcdonalds breakfast. You know Jess is hungry if she eats a maccie Ds!

I've dropped out but lent them my Garmin to get them to Dover. Have a good ride guys!

When did they arrive? How long after i left?

Damn!!! I wanted to see them but couldnt stay out any longer...

  • Good luck guys!
Sorry i didn't join you, got a slashed tyre ffs.

  • Reckon I must have seen them this morning when I was riding to work, posted in teh Spotted thread, then saw this...Have a decent ride, perfect day for it.

  • Nice ride it is too. Nice 'n bumpy!

Gutted to not be rolling with them but I'm being sensible and letting this niggle rest for a day.

  • You're not being sensible by signing up for the M25 ride!

  • Thats in a month! Come on, its only 20mi longer than you've riden with me before. And flatter.

  • They were 50 miles from Dover just under an hour ago :)

  • Just sent through second set of directions to Jess. They must be having a few problems using the Garmin for some reason.

  • Just been out on the bike to sort out a few things, really wishing I had the time to be riding again today, legs are feeling a lot better than I expected!

  • Also gutted about you knee stonehedge, thats real bad luck

  • Good luck on the rest of the trip, it was nice to make my first road ride part of a group thing, sorry for being the back marker. I had a right f**k on at Banbury Trainstation with a British Transport Jobsworth policeman. He said my top was offensive and I was to remove it or be refused travel, so I had to turn it inside out. Stupid tw@t.

Good luck on the rest of the trip, may it be trouble free and may there be an icecream van at the top of the biggest climbs!!! ha!!

Thanks mate. Just a minor niggle that I can't afford to get worse. I suspect that I have lost some flexibility in my achilles and this is a compensation injury. I'll be fine in a day or two. Hoping to hit the road at the weekend.
