Is the polo boom box going to be at every polo event now? Praise be to all that helped construct it, it is an awesome machine. But I for one don't like obtrusive music in public places. The boom box in the park is on a par with the mobile phone at the back of the bus.
It makes polo look like some crusty critical mass event, which would put people off the game.
i pretty much agree with this posh lad.

Slow down dude, wasn't a comment on class. Read what I said.
Snoops, to whom exactly does Critical Mass seem like an event for 'crusties'? Just Daily Mail readers like yourself, or do you know some Sun readers that share your views?

I think music (at a reasonable level - I'm not a big fan of being able to hear it while playing) in a park, in the sun, is ace! I'm surprised how many people are worried about other people's impression of them for enjoying themselves. You do realize that more than music, it's probably the taking over of the football pitch that people are judging you for. And if not that, just riding around with a stick chasing a ball is enough reason for most people to think disparaging thoughts.

Not all critical mass events are crusty, but some are. The Manchester Critical Mass was ruined by the boom box crowd and their rainforest rave tunes. IMO and the opinion of others.

Mark, you're point is based on the assumption that those who have spoken out against the boom box are actually enjoying it? The fact we ride around in hockey masks, hulk gloves and weird bikes might go some way to proving that other people judging us is not the reason we don't like it.
For the record, I do not 'read' the Daily Mail or the Sun, but I will 'browse' a copy if it's lying around. Like all decent Stokey people (N16 MANDEM) I will buy a Guardian and an Observer, of a weekend, and then walk around the local area not reading it.

No, my point was based on what you wrote and people saying the agreed with you.

**If people are just opposed to tunes, that's more than cool.

Perhaps we should play some more non-crusty, Mail reading type music to appeal to all tastes?

I do agree with what your are saying, we shouldn't have it at every event, and as Mark mentioned, it won't be there this weekend, as it's fucked.
@Chukker. I pretty much agree with your draft idea, and I think you (or we) should do that for a future tourney. Have 1/3 of the players voted in as "captains", and then they pick 2 players from the rest (no point seperating B & C, if a captain thinks a C player is better than a B player, then let them pick them), going 1-11, then 11-1, as you say (to balance the teams). Maybe some point in July, in one of the spare weekends between NS events?
