If they are on the forum they can join. Perhaps at the end of the month you can drop those who haven't logged anything at all but excluding people so we can chase a win in a lower category is just shitty. A win ain't worth nothing if it ain't done right.

if it's a case of a couple of people tipping us into the 50+ category then it's stupid, but I'm sure we can get 85+ members.
If we get to 99, then it would be utterly stupid to let in a few more people

I say go for victory. but I'm a ruthless, pointlessly competitive bastard.
-
• #205
can you kick people out? let everybody in, then cull the short-travelled for the last 5 days so we're back in the <50 category?
-
• #206
ah Matt has dismissed my ruthlessness. damn live-updating.
-
• #207
if that happens feel free to kick me out, I'm only doing 5 miles a day
-
• #208
but the short travel people give bonus points for the first miles. i will do what matt suggests, and cull people who haven't done any miles at the end.
Start getting people to sign up, might as well get as near 99 people as we can then!

if there are prizes, then is serious no?

give team chevrons a run for their money.

No point making decisions now, not if we can win the 50+ category. If we can't and the maths shows we could win the up to 50 category in the closing days, then kick the lower mileage people like me, but no point doing that unless we are going to win that category.
-

^^^ We still haven't used last years prize, so it's not really about the prizes.
I think laner's approach is the right idea, although a mean part of me likes Tom's thinking.
Unless work/a medical condition/small children are holding you back though, HTFU and do some more miles!

^Both of these^

And how many have 'forgot' they changed from winter 28s to 23s on their computers :)

How can I only have done 162 miles so far?

Well said that man!
I did an extra 25 miles last night to my usual commute and will be doing a bit extra today so that should increase our points a wee bit!

I'm making a tokenistic contribution. I only commute 5 miles per day, but I usually schedule a mid-season base rebuilding thingy around this time i.e. get some miles in the legs to see me through the rest of the summer. So it may help, if there's some sort of competition. I've not bothered to get up to speed with the thread as a whole. Sorry.

Good work, BMMF,
I'm now signed up, (with application to team LFGSS pending).
I think the aim now is to get as many people on board as possible and to surprise ourselves by our individual and collective mileages.Equating these self-policed distances to tonnes of carbondioxide, trees or fairycakes is inevitably flawed but it does provide a handle on otherwise essentially intangible benefits.
-
• #220
Erm, I think I need a new dictionary 'cos when I looked up "tokenism" in mine I couldn't see how it could apply to someone having the second highest* mileage on the team.
*no, I haven't bothered checking everyone's mileage, I'm just guessing.

I would like to point out that I'm still "off the bike" and "not really riding" at the moment.

• #222
^Off the bike. Restin' up?

Whoop Elite badge... Should i wait by my phone for a call from Team Leopard Trek?
-
• #224
That's Team LAY-OH-PARD TREK to you.

This is silly, we still have less than 50 members logging miles, and we're @ 55 team members and in the top bracket.
Let's go back to the sub 50 bracket and win that? We're shooting ourselves in the foot by competing with 49 in the 50+ bracket.
Because it's not a serious competition, and i feel harsh stopping people from joining the team.
Plus i think we have a good chance of getting at least 3rd in the 50+ category, and possibly highter if sky or SCR get over 100 members and move out of the group.
